My wife and went to Volatus based on reviews and we are adding 5 star. Daniel our wine guide was fantastic. Great knowledge of wines and the Paso Robles area. We went on a Wednesday so we had the tasting room to ourselves. The red wines were full bodied and are drinking very well now, and will age nicely. Daniel explained we are in a slow period ( just a few days) as the wine festival had just passed and we are entering Memorial day weekend. The vibe and energy was excellent. Cheers to the owner and all he does.

The last winery of the day on a recent Paso trip was Volatus Wine, with former Navy fighter pilot/Topgun instructor Hal Schmidt as owner and winemaker. The intimate tasting room had lots of navy memorabilia and although we arrived close to closing time, Tina graciously served up stories and great wines, all with memorable names (Bloody Well, Boys are Back, Long Way Home). Challenge accepted to go through the military alphabet!

I took home a bottle of my favorite wine there, 100% Tempranillo "Long Way Home".

Lovely wines, reasonably priced. Some varietals you wouldn’t find elsewhere. The owner has a great story with which surfer Dan regales guests.

Whoa! What a wonderful and personable experience when you visit this winery. Their wines are five-star with each having its own distinct flavor and quality. The owners Hal and Victoria are wonderful and engaging and make your experience a friendly family felt visit. I highly recommend that you visit this winery when you're in the Paso Robles area. We were first time visitors and joined their wine club plus bought a case of wine on our way out. Veteran ran and quality are five stars.

We had such a fun time here! It's right behind Dark Star Cellars tasting room-recommend you walk right by that and into Volatus! The winemaker was full of stories and had us laughing the whole time. The wine was also delicious! The place has a military theme because the owner and winemakers we're/are also in the military. They do a lot of great stuff for veterans, too. Great place!
