The Creative Space in Dixon is absolutely amazing! It’s beautifully designed, functional, and perfect for any event or project. Sarah went above and beyond to make the entire process smooth and enjoyable. She was incredibly helpful, attentive, and made us feel so welcome. The space had everything we needed and then some—it truly exceeded expectations. I will definitely be renting this space again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a versatile and inspiring venue. Thank you, Sarah, for making our experience unforgettable!

I rented The Creative for my daughter’s first birthday party on Saturday, 2/12 and would NEVER rent this venue again or recommend it to anyone.

I started working with Sarah, one of the owners, 6 months prior to the party. She was friendly, flexible and accommodating to our requests. On the day of the party we arrived to the venue an hour early and were shocked at the condition it was in. The windows were dirty, dust and cobwebs were on the window sills and walls, the linen was incredibly wrinkly, and the bathroom was DISGUSTING. There was hair and grime in the sink, the floors were filthy, a half roll of toilet paper on the roll and a piece of a tampon wrapper on the ground. It was apparent that no one had bothered to clean before we came.

To make matters worse, the prep space for our caterer was completely inhabitable. The prep table was covered in their belongings, the sinks were full of wrapped dishes and the floor had not been swept or mopped. The worst part of the kitchen was the DIRTY DISHES with food left in the hallway on top of a molded sink. The only mop available had been sitting in dirty mop water for what looked like a week or two.

We called Sarah who had just gotten out of surgery, so she gave us the number for Kayla, one of the other owners. I explained the situation, sent her all of the photos only to never hear from her again. Sarah did come by the venue 30 minutes after the party had started to have her daughter tidy up the bathroom (clean the sink and sweep). I later on had to go through the other rooms just to find toilet paper for our guests.

At the party we were told she would be talking to the other owners about the refund. I followed up with her on Tuesday with no response. She texted me the next day, Wednesday, saying she would be speaking with her team and will get back to me that evening. I didn’t hear anything so I texted her on Friday with no response and again on Sunday. They ultimately decided that out of the $700 we paid for the venue, we were only getting $100 back. When we reminded her of all of the photos and inhabitable condition the venue was in, their only response was that we used the space and because she let us come in the night before to set up, they were already being more than accommodating.

As a business, I can’t wrap my mind around being proud of the product that they presented and not owning any fault to how disgusting the venue really was. I would never recommend anyone to book this venue and hope no one else has this experience in the future.

I absolutely love this place whether it’s going to parties being held there or one of the many events they host I always have a blast…the staff is great and very professional you can’t go wrong choosing the creative space as a venue…I have nothing but great things to say about the lovely ladies that own and run this business

I’d like to share my unfortunate experience with the owner of The Creative Space Dixon, Sarah. My first interaction with her was in January 2024 when I rented the venue for my nephew's first birthday. During this time, Sarah learned about my woodworking and renovation business, that we create custom barn doors and provide various woodwork and painting services.

In June, Sarah reached out, asking if we could paint the Creative Space Dixon and install a custom barn door for the kitchen area. We provided her with an estimate, which she accepted, and she requested that the work be completed in just two days. Me and my husband worked hard for two full days and completed the work like she wanted. We painted the entire space, built the barn door to exact measurements, and installed it including all the materials and services. Sarah visited while we were working, praised our efforts, and told us, “Awesome work, guys. I love it.” She promised to pay by the end of July, and we agreed, trusting her because we felt like friends after hosting our event at her venue.

However, Sarah did not uphold her promise. July came and went, and we waited patiently for months, sending reminders and trying to communicate with her. She ignored our calls and messages, proving that she is not a person of her word. When she finally responded, she offered excuse after excuse and said she’d pay by check. The check we received was altered and fictitious, as confirmed by my bank. Despite confronting her, she denied any responsibility, showing a complete lack of honesty and integrity.

Sarah’s behavior only worsened. She ignored my repeated requests for payment and evaded all efforts to resolve the matter. It became painfully clear that she is not a kind or trustworthy individual. Frustrated and desperate, I filed a case in small claims court in Fairfield, providing all the evidence, including call logs, messages, and photos of our work. Even then, serving her court papers was a nightmare. She avoided being found, and I had to pay additional fees to try to get her served.
After many failed attempts, I finally caught her at City Hall. She saw me and tried to run away, refusing to take the papers until my mother began recording her behavior. Only then did she reluctantly accept the court documents. Yet, she continued to lie and evade responsibility.

When our trial date finally came, Sarah didn’t even show up to court. Despite her absence, we presented all our evidence to the judge, and we won the case. I felt hopeful that we would finally be paid, but even after winning, we still have to complete additional paperwork to try to collect the money. It’s incredibly hard and exhausting, even after putting in so much effort and trying to be kind to someone who clearly doesn’t value fairness.

I also encountered Sarah at the Walmart Supercenter in Dixon while shopping for Halloween. She again promised to pay me that week, but unsurprisingly, she never did. It is now almost the end of November, and I’m still waiting to be paid. Her actions have shown that she is not only unreliable but also deceitful and dismissive of the impact she has on others. She lacks any sense of fairness or empathy for the people she has wronged.

I never wanted to leave a review like this on her business. We are not like her—heartless and willing to harm others for personal gain. We always try to be fair and patient, and I didn’t want to hurt her business by writing such a review. But after enduring months of stress and broken promises, my patience has worn thin. To anyone considering renting The Creative Space Dixon, please be warned. Sarah has caused my family immense hardship and has shown that she cannot be trusted. Please Don’t support someone who treats people this poorly..

I was looking for a place to host a birthday party I was referred to Creative Space. I could not be happier with my experience the room was spacious and clean they had the tables and chairs, I could use their linens or bring my own, the ladies were very professional and were great to work with. Everyone at the party was impressed with the space. I will definitely be booking more events in the future.

Hosted an event here and it was fantastic. Tables and chairs were great, owner is super helpful. The space is perfect for a gathering up to about 50, with the perfect neutral black and white black drop!

I love this business! The owners are extremely nice, and understanding. It’s super cute and always clean! The events that are held at the Creative space are so fun and worth coming to. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. For any events such as Birthday parties, baby showers ect.
