This was, hands down, one of the best bed and breakfasts I’ve ever stayed in! It was an easy 5-7 minute walk from Main Street. The historic house is well cared for and beautiful. Carol laid out wine and cheese every evening, freshly baked cookies before bedtime and made us a home cooked breakfast. We also had the chance to play pool and board games with other guests. The rooms have fireplaces which made our stay extra cozy. We can’t wait to visit again!

I LOVE the steam boat house. My family stays there often. It’s cozy and has Great food. Carol and Katie (the owners) are very kind and are great cooks. It’s like a second home for us. Carol has a super sweet puppy whom I absolutely love named Gia. She stays in carols quarters. The steam boat house is by far my favorite place to stay in galena. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!

Husband and I just back from a 3-night stay at Steamboat House. The house is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. We stayed in “Bess”, which has a private screened porch where we sat in the evening, and even it was spotless. Carol and her daughter, Kate, were terrific hosts, from the lovely breakfasts (different each day) and varied wines and cheese each night, to the little extras like ice to keep our picnic cool and a place to lock our bikes. Easy walk to town and to the Galena River Trail trailhead. Would definitely stay again!

What a beautiful historic mansion wonderfully maintained and you are treated like a super star! Carol and Katie are great! Outstanding breakfasts- the attention to detail is veee re much appreciated! Decorated so nicely for fall/ Halloween. From the minute you walk in you feel like you have stepped back in time 170 years with the gorgeous antiques surrounding you yet it so warm and inviting. The piano, the library, the billiards room, the wine in the evenings and sweet treats in the evening. We have been coming to Galena for over 30 and this by far the best we have stayed in

This was our first time staying at The Steamboat House. We went just before Halloween so the leaves were changing. The property was very pretty and the house was beautifully decorated.

Our room and the common area were amazing. Our room included a private balcony, was very clean, and all of the well-kept antiques added a lot of charm.

The service was exquisite. We arrived too late to have dinner but breakfast was delicious! We will stay here again when we are in the area.

A top notch experience from beginning to end! ||The pillows, mattress and sheets were exquisite! Also enjoyed the fireplace in our room on a chilly night. Slept so well. Clean, beautiful and full of history. Breakfast was scrumptious, and Carol provided free wine, cheese and crackers in the evening and cookies and hot chocolate at night. She was so kind and helpful! We were able to easily walk to the downtown area (the 4 of us are in our 60’s and 70’s) and so didn’t need to worry about parking. Thank you, Carol for an exceptional time!!

An excellent place to stay while we were in Galena! Close to town. Loved all the historical aspects of the house, as well as all the Halloween decorations. We stayed for three days, and all the breakfasts were different and very tasty. Carol was the most gracious host! If we needed anything, whether it be advice of where to go for dinner, or if we needed something for the room, she was there to help! The evening wine and cheese was wonderful, as well as the late-night snacks and hot tea or chocolate. We will definitely be back!
