I agree with other reviewers that the surroundings of this hotel are charming. However, the building, rooms, decor, bedding, etc. are unchanged from the olden days. This place is quaint, but desperately needs complete refreshing. It was very quiet during our stay for move-in at UA. We only ever saw one staff member, once, while checking in. If you like any level of modernity or luxury, maybe stay elsewhere. I can’t hate it, because the price was better than the extremes near campus. I won’t stay here again, though.

Comfortable bed and pillows, lots of privacy, scenic, awesome European style Continental breakfast. I liked the shutters on the windows instead of blinds or curtains. Lots of places to lounge around and relax. Friendly, helpful staff. Food from grill at golf course next door not great.

Richard at the front desk was very welcoming. Just a genuine, kind person. The grounds & Lodge ( it's not a hotel, it's much, much more than that so let's call it a Lodge) were beautifully maintained. Our room was spacious although it was one of the smaller rooms. Clean & the bed was just right. Our windows overlooked an enchanting walkway into the woods. The full on breakfast was good and was more than continental . The Lodge was very quiet but I read if a wedding reception etc is going on you might need to be in a room farther away from the house. Us - we would have crashed and partied with the group🤣! This is where you want to stay!
We only got to stay one night but I highly recommend it to anyone looking for old world charm and ambience.

I told the owner and I'll say it here publicly: I would reroute my trip just to stay at the Jack Warner again. We absolutely loved it. Superbly clean rooms, comfortable bed, beautifully welcoming layout, ample breakfast, amazing surrounds, and spectacular staff. We highly recommend you enjoy this place -- it's a one of a kind. I love the period details, the shutters in the room allowing darkness for those who need it, the beautiful forest surrounding the property.

This property is closing in January, for much need renovations (front desk told us)||but we were also told they are knocking it down to build condos.||It was recently sold and no one really cares much about the hotel.||We travelled in December for University of Alabama graduation (Dec. 8th - Dec. 13th)||When we arrived the girl at the front desk said she could not take our credit cards because she did not know how to use the system. The heat was turned and the rooms were so hot it was ridiculous. We tried to turn the thermostats but they would not budge. They had to have a maintenance person adjust something outside. ||The rooms are clean but all the furniture, carpets are dated and the hallway carpet is stained.||The tv in our room said you could use Roku but it was not connected. I connected all the cables myself, no point in asking anyone.||We were the only ones in the hotel, 3 people in a hotel with 55 rooms.||There is no bar, no food service on the property. The girl at the desk said she did not know if the continental breakfast would even be put out, the girl in the morning takes care of..not this girls job..yikes! ||The girl in the morning was Sheila, she was great and was the only one who knew what she was going. She got the air conditioning fixed for us and she cooked a hot breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. She told us that once she left on Sunday she was not coming back (I think she had lost her job because she had not even met the new owner and had no idea what was happening). Well after she left on Sunday, there was continental breakfast. No one even talked to us, except to say their cat was running around the building for exercise. My husband is extremely allergic to cats and of course it was on the floor we were staying on.||The outside deck is closed off, it is falling apart. The walking bridge is closed.||The gym is a fan and a mat in the the yacht club. The pool was closed. The trail behind the inn is a very steep slope down to a waterfall..it was a little dangerous to walk down the rocks so I went partially down and turned around. Overall, I would say the location is quiet and private and I think when it was in its hey day it probably was very nice. I hope they don't knock it down for condos, it would be a shame. The yacht club is gorgeous, I can see why people use it for events. There is no restaurant there, I think they only use it for events anymore.

do not book! do not stay here. I booked through booking.com that clearly stated a cancellation policy. I have all the emails and documentation to prove it. They went ahead and charged my card for the room I canceled well ahead of the cancellation date. They are crooks!!!!!! They should contact booking.com and their third party reservation sites on how their property is listed and how the cancellation policy is clearly written. I'm disgusted on how even though the booking site says credit card will be charged at property they went ahead and charged it weeks before. Don't stay here unless you want your money stolen!

We stayed in a king suite for the AL-Auburn game. The price was $650/night with a two night minimum. And folks, despite the price, we decided to drive back to Nashville after the game to avoid spending a second night there. Out of date doesn’t begin to describe it. The carpets are stained. The beds are incredibly uncomfortable. The bathroom is tiny and just…yuck. We went out and bought pillows because the small foam blocks on the beds were unusable. There is a sign at check in saying they no longer offer housekeeping services unless you stay 5+ nights. I tried to turn my key in early since we weren’t staying, but there was no one at the front desk. This seems to be the norm. There is a poster in the lobby promising a renovation is ā€œcoming soon.ā€ It can’t come soon enough.
