We LOVED our stay at Hotel Chalet (aka the Choo Choo). We stayed for 4 nights over Thanksgiving in train car 31. They are so comfortable and a unique vibe. Our room was super clean and the bed was very comfortable. Water pressure was outstanding. There is a coffee maker, mini fridge and a tv. No microwave. The room was bigger than I expected . What a really fun time! We did not use the amenities much, but there is a very clean pool, fire pit and a caboose made into a food/beverage place right by the pool. The train station terminal was BEAUTIFUL and there are several little shops around the outside including Frothy Monkey, a small batch distillery and Elsie’s daughter. We ate there our first night and it was wonderful! The hotel staff were wonderful and very friendly! Highly recommend this hotel and especially staying in a train car! It was a great location- walkable to restaurants. Centrally to everything we wanted to do and very safe area.

Outstanding experience. We did not stop saying wow about the king suite in the main building.
Meant to book a car but people listen, it was a wonderful accident. If you want a king and queen level place to stay the suites are absolutely where it’s at. I will agree that it is pricey but wait until you are in there.
Very masculine space that we stayed in.
The shower will drill a hole in your sore spots and the instant hot water was an instant surprise. The garden tub was massive and included bath salts. There was a bonus half bath so no one waited for bathroom.
The mini bar was also an amazing unexpected extra. Sodas and water on site. Yes, everything is extra but it usually is in nice places.

We can not wait to stay again. Already booked again for our return trip next weekend.

We slept in one of the Sleeper Deluxe railroad car units. Each of these cars has been split in half so that there are two "rooms" per car. They have done such a wonderful job at restoring the railroad cars and converting them to hotel rooms! The car/room/bathroom were all clean and the bed was comfortable, although the mattress did seem a bit saggy so I don't know if it is just a soft mattress or needs to be replaced. The room doesn't have a coffee machine but instead has coffee brew bags for cups and a hot water kettle. If you've ever had coffee this way, you know it just ain't the same. Even so, I wish I could have stayed longer here. It's so cool to be staying in such a historic place. This is a must see for any rail fan! There are several railroad cars nearby that are in very bad shape. I don't know if they are part of future expansion for more hotel rooms or not, but I hope they are eventually restored. I'm all for preserving history. I definitely will be back!

We had a lovely overnight stay, the historic preservation of this unique beautifully appointed hotel ? is something to explore and experience. Our room was uniquely appointed with a huge comfortable bed a huge bathroom with amenity. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant out on the porch, happy hour wine was a perfect match to our food. Then in the morning the coffee bar by the front desk got our day stated! A must stop, highly recommend staying here if you’re anywhere in the area!

We just finished a great stay at The Chalet. The overall concept, design and amenities (gym, pool, food & beverage) were very well done. We stayed in one of the train cars, where we were very impressed with the quality of the bathroom, use of space and honestly had one of my best night’s sleep in a while in the comfortable king size bed. Looking forward to visiting again!

We stayed in the train car. It was very neat, but that's it. Was listed as a king bed, but was actually a queen. Charged an extra $25 to set up extra bedding, aka pull out the couch, and put a sheet on it. Enough hot water for one person to shower. The rest of us had to take cold showers. The outlet didn't work in the bathroom, so we had to sit on the floor to use the hairdryer. For almost $300 per night, I expected much more than this. I can not speak to the normal rooms, but the train cars are a one-time experience.

This place is incredible!!!!! We stayed in one of the train cars and it was the most unique experience for us. I am a huge train fan and historical architecture fan and this place has both. The train room is so awesome right now on the passenger platforms. The building itself is full of historic architecture and beauty. If you really look closely everything ties into what this property was and used for.
The staff is top notch. Helpful, professional and fun. The only downside was our trip was unexpectedly cut short and we had to return home. We didn’t really get a chance to explore the whole property and join in on some of the activities.
At first glance I figured this was more of a leave the kiddos home and enjoy time away with your significant other. Nope you can definitely do that here but it’s also very family friendly. I would love to bring my kids and grandchildren.
The location is fantastic, the staff is fantastic, the whole Choo Choo area is fantastic! Go, stay explore have fun. Take a trip back in time.

Summary - The property has been vastly updated and made much of the outside space usable. The train car rooms were beautiful, functional and wonderfully designed. The staff interactions always felt like I was bothering them except for the housekeepers. Also lots of dead plants around the hotel.

Details - We stayed for a single night in a train car. When I called about an early check-in, the front attendant (Jordan) was short and didn't seem to care that I asked a question. Check-in was similar and the clerk gave us the wrong direction to the room. So we spent time in the rain walking around until a helpful housekeeper directed us.

The room was beautiful. Stunning even. The bed was extremely comfortable, the shower was high pressure, and the layout offered plenty of storage with easy access.

The location of the hotel requires you to walk through the whole complex to get to the rest of the city, but it's covered and nice and certainly not a detriment.
