Mark, who checked us in, was very knowledgeable about the hotel. He spent a lot of time explaining the history of the hotel, how parking works, and where the best places to eat are He made us feel very welcomed. ||Unfortunately, the room was very disappointing. I kind of expected a small room, but I wasn't ready for the bathroom. The tub and sink were lavender in color and had a lot of soap scum stains. The tub also had some stains from rust and mineral deposits where the tub faucet leaked. It looked pretty gross. The sink has some rust stains around the drain as well. There were also cracks between the tiles in the shower area. Neither one of us wanted to take a shower in it. Later, to see if the tub was even draining properly, i tried to run some water. The control knob was very hard to turn. I could only get a trickle of water to come out. Being the shoulder season, I couldn't imagine why they would put us in a room this bad with most rooms empty.||We did look around the hotel common areas at the many artifacts that the owner had collected. They were all very interesting. And the lobby area was historic and interesting. But we just didn't feel comfortable in our room. We could have asked to change rooms, but again, why would they put us in this one if there were better ones in an almost empty hotel?||So we decided to leave after staying one night. The staff at the front desk had a hard time figuring out how to refund us for the second night that we pre-paid for but didn't use. After several minutes and a couple of phone calls, they might have figured it out. But i won't know for sure until I check my account in a day or 2.||We wanted to like this place. I understand that the owner owns multiple hotels. So I can't understand why someone with deep pockets wouldn't want to get the guest rooms in good condition as a priority.

Had a fantastic stay. Mark was extremely helpful over the phone and saved a pet free room for me because of my allergies. Room was very clean and quiet. The location is perfect, walking distance to a lot of good restaurants and bars. The hotel is definitely older, but in a good and charming way. I wish they had light blocking curtains in the rooms, but everything else was lovely!

First of all, my wife and I love this place. I gave it a 5 star review, because this is a cool place to stay. Understand that this is an OLD HISTORIC HOTEL. It does not have all the modern conveniences and probably not enough plugs to suit the younger crowd, but it is a fun stay. It is in a great location with some great restaurants and shops within walking distance.

My wife and I love to stay in old historic hotels when we travel. We love to talk to the staff and meet people in these places. By the way, the staff was friendly and our rooms were old but comfortable.

We recommend this stay with the caveat that you Understand why you chose an old hotel. Have some fun and look for the ghosts.

Beware. Your reservation is not guaranteed. We booked our room through their direct hotel site as soon as we had frontier nights tickets in March. We all know the hotels sell out fast. We got a confirmation from them on 3/13 guaranteeing of reservation. 3/25 we received a cancellation notice and phone call saying he was just the messenger and they didn’t have their frontier days rate set and they have no idea what happened and we’re having to cancel all the reservations made. Mind you the rate was $250 a night. Seems marked up but reasonable for CFD. By this time most of the decent hotels at a decent price, most double the mark up, in the area were sold out. Horrible customer service and really disrupted our travel plans. We called and a supervisor was supposed to call us back. No return call. We emailed and no reply. Don’t waste your time.

My husband and I have been planning our trip to Cheyenne for Frontier Days for over a year and had booked a different hotel at a very good rate, but then released it when we were able to book the Historic Plains hotel a few months ago. This evening I had an email advising me my booking was cancelled and upon calling them I was told that they had allowed the booking by mistake and have cancelled but will graciously call me to rebook (at a no doubt much higher rate) in a week or so. Their excuse was that online booking agents had sold them without their permission which was a lie as I had booked this direct with them, this is them clearly price gauging and now I have lost my alternative accommodation and will have to pay over the odds! If you are looking to stay here you definitely need a back up plan, they can. not be trusted! This is the end of a big Wyoming trip for us coming from the UK and it’s left a bitter taste in our mouths!

I stayed here for about a week a year ago. They had to move me around a few rooms because they all had pretty significant problems (refrigerator didn't work, bathroom drain wouldn't drain at all, etc etc). There was a pretty clear and awful mismanagement problem but staff was friendly and willing to do what they could to help make my stay pleasant.

Fast forward to today and they've literally doubled their nightly rate without having done much of any work on the place, as a new management company apparently bought and runs the place now?

This place will now be a hard pass from me, even though my first time there was still pleasant enough because of the location and the friendly front desk staff.

I had a legitimate confirmed reservations for Cheyenne Frontier Days through their website that I scheduled extra early and they cancelled my reservation so they could spike the prices for the event. When I let them know that I dont think that's legal, and definitely not right, Luke got aggressive and rude and said they had the right to deny service to anyone. This place chooses dollars over basic human decency and good business practices.

Location is ideal if you are a tourist, but we had a ton of issues regarding the cleanliness of the rooms. If it weren’t for the cleanliness issues, we would have had a perfect stay. But the cleanliness issues made our stay very uncomfortable. When we first checked in, they put us in room 320. There were hairs on the pillows and bedspread so we told the front desk, and they moved us to room 520. In 520, the bed looked cleaner but there were hairs in the tub, pee splatters on the toilet seat, and one of the hand towels was dirty. We put the dirty hand towel on the ground because we didn’t want to use it. Before we left for dinner that night, we told the front desk about the issues in the new room, and they told us that they would have housekeeping clean the bathroom/sink area while we were out at dinner. When we returned from dinner, we were told that they had cleaned the room up for us. When we got back to the room, we saw that the pee splatters had been wiped off the toilet seat; however, there was still hair in the tub AND they had hung the dirty towel that we had placed on the ground back up on the towel rack….at this point, it was later in the evening and I didn’t feel like going back to the front desk and potentially moving all of our stuff to a THIRD ROOM. So we decided to just get through the night, go to sleep, and try to get compensation in the morning for all of the issues we have had. In addition to|The cleaning issues, we also couldnt use the TV in our room. When I was checking out in the morning (on Saturday), I told a new front desk person about all the issues we had the day before. I was told that I had to call back on Monday or Tuesday, when the manager would be in, to see if I could get refunded for any or all of my stay. I was charged full price for the room and they apologized for the issues, but told me that they couldn’t do anything because the manager wasn’t in. It’s a shame because the hotel is beautiful and historic, but the rooms dont appear to be cleaned regularly or at all. We did not tip the housekeeping staff for the first time ever because the room was not clean. Like I said, if it weren’t for the cleaning issues, the stay would have been fine. But the cleaning issues made for a very uncomfortable stay. The fact that we were charged full price for a very uncomfortable stay was extremely infuriating on top of everything else.
