After much deliberation, we made the choice to stay in the Donatello for our trito San Francisco. ||I'm so glad we chose this hotel. Absolutely fantastic from the friendly staff through to the great room with all the amenities you could need.||We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children, and the studio room was perfect. The beds were probably the most comfortable I've ever slept in. With your own little kitchen, it's great.||Lovely walk-in shower also. A great games room in the lobby was also loved by the kids.||Didn't make much use of the rooftop terrace, but it is lovely. ||2 minutes walk, and you're in union Square. Definitely make this my hotel of choice next time we're in the city by the bay.....

We stayed in September for a 3 day weekend and loved our time here. The staff was great. Valets always had car ready and bellman glad to help us to our room. Housekeeping even came and made the sofa bed for our daughter. And we enjoyed the free coffee every morning on the rooftop. Walking distance to Union Square, Chinatown and the trolley to Fisherman's Wharf.

Everything in the hotel is perfect. The location. The cleanliness. The rooms are spacious and well equipped with a microwave oven. Electric kettle and coffee machine. The spa is superb. A special mention to the people who work there. Everybody was so friendly and helpful that we really felt like home. A special thanks to Lovely who is not only kind but also very efficient. Definitely the place to stay in San Francisco !

I stayed here in February and write now because, after many subsequent stays at other properties, I remain nostalgic about my time at the Donatello. The team was very cheerful and welcoming. The room was large for San Francisco and had everything I needed. The hotel itself was quiet, as were the other guests. There is street noise as one would expect but it was not an issue for me. It was fantastic to have the sofa and seating area as well as the kitchen space with utensils. The bed was very comfortable. I also liked that the big closet and roomy chest of drawers were in a separate area with a full length mirror for a nice dressing area away from the living space. Going up to the lounge to grab a cup of tea in the evening - and get some SF intel from the friendly hostess - was a treat. Every day I felt like I was coming home to my own condo.

I would totally rate this place a 5! Honestly, I just can’t get past the fact that hotels still insist on using carpets. But aside from that little hiccup, it was an absolutely fantastic experience! The location is unbeatable—just a short stroll to transit and surrounded by amazing restaurants!

Hello,

I wanted to share my experience when I tried to come in and eat dinner with my business partner.

As we walked in two guys at the counter scattered when we walked in. Rude. So then we stood there for a few minutes waiting for someone to greet/ seat us but no one did so we had to search for help and found a group of guys around the bar area. We asked if the restaurant was even open based on the energy. One of the guys told us they just got out of a meeting and stood there awkwardly. I then asked, so what do we do out of sarcasm because it seemed they were dumb founded that customers were in the restaurant. [] I kid you not this was the energy. The gentleman then try’s to seat us hesitantly and confused. So after that I decided to politely tell him we changed our minds and we’ll eat somewhere else.

I’m am soooooo glad we did not have one of our celebrity clients with us as that would have been a HUGE embarrassment.

As a business manager and business owner one can only reflect from within as to why quotas/daily goals aren’t meet. Quality service and customer experience always drives a business ability to turn profit long term.
I hope this helps because as a manger it’s tedious to try to micromanage a team to ensure they are doing the right thing at all times.

This wasn't our first choice hotel but due to the lack of availability of any decent hotel we had to stay here.
We stayed two nights and didn't eat or drink at the hotel.

Overall the hotel is fine. The location is a bit sketchy but central and near Union Square and not far from BART and other transit options.

The decor is dated but in general okay.

My main complaint is the timeshare sales after check-in. I'm not sure if this is common in America but I've never experienced it and after a long flight the last thing I want to do is dodge a skilled salesman (who was polite, professional and helpful to be fair). All I want is to get my key and go to my room.

This wasn't mentioned on hotels.com where I booked through and had I known I would have not come.
