I would want to leave this place 5 stars, it's a cabin on the lake so as far as that goes it is fine, exactly what you would expect. The owner/worker is communicative and polite, so no complaints there either. We had booked a night here just to use the hot tub and unfortunately for us it was either too chemically or something and we were not able to use it. Tingling and slight burning sensation our skin as we tried to stay in. Truly disappointing because we drove here just for one night of some much needed relaxing, a very expensive overnight stay for no reason 🙁 We have some red irritated skin patches now in the spots that felt the most "tingling" when we tried to be in the tub. I was excited to have found a cool spot about an hour away from us that we could getaway to once in a while, but I think I will continue searching and try somewhere else next time.

Loved this place! This was my husband and my first time visiting The Cottages on Petite Lake and it was exactly what we were looking for, some relaxation by the lake. We stayed in the Tiny House and it was perfect for the two of us. They have a patio overlooking the lake where we watched the sun and the moon rise. Or we just sat and enjoyed the view. We just sat and watched the boats go by, while taking in the sun and view. They have boat rentals and my husband had never driven a boat before in his life (he's 65 year old) and our host David graciously took us out on the boat to let my husband have his first experience at the wheel. My husband loved it! Thanks David. There is also a beach where you can swim and play in the water with water boats and floating devices at your disposal. Overall it was a great visit and we will be returning next year. ||Ralph & Lolita Glasper

Nice place along a smaller but still just as fun lake. Rooms are nice, and I got the cabin on the lake - rocking motion wasn't bad at all (I'm used to it due to riding the Amtrak alot), but the creaking along the dock woke me up - not a bad thing, but the realities of lodging along a body of water.

The only bad thing is the location - it's far (for me) and a freight line got me stuck, 3 miles east of the lake.

Still, nice place and a great respite from the nervousness of suburban and city life of Chicago. Recommended!

We enjoyed our cottages very much and the inside was exactly as described. The grounds and landscaping however look nothing like the pictures on the website. Everything is in serious need of repair and updating. The screen room next to our cottage was ripped with holes everywhere, lawn furniture falling apart, umbrella broken, broken dilapidated potting plants, makeshift fences in yards, and the outside in general just seemed very unkept. The grill was so rusted it was basically unusable so we couldn’t even grill much of the food we brought with. Down by the the dock much of the wood is rotting and landscaping is way overgrown… it just needs some TLC. We really enjoyed our time as it’s very secluded, private and quiet but for the money not sure we would stay there again.

When I arrived at this so called resort it didn’t look as nice as the pictures. No designated parking spot, no sun shade sail, the door was unlocked and batteries dead. The house had a musty sewer smell and I knew I couldn’t stay, #1B.Beach front studio. The beach isn’t a beach. There is a brick wall blocking access to water. The one tiny spot to get to water was just that! Plus it’s in a cove where boats are so it’s dirty! Very disappointed with owner of this property! I drove all the way there just to turn around and go home! The management co emailed me saying I would be refunded but the owner is trying to charge me for partial stay! Very uncool! I would not recommend this place at all!

We hosted my bachelorette party at the cottages on petite lake this past weekend and had the best time! We booked with the owners (David and Jess) back in December and communication throughout the entire process was great. The booking process was easy, they answered even the smallest of questions we had, and were so great to meet in person.

The Cozy Crooked Cottage was the property we stayed at and it was so cute! Perfect for our group of 8-10. The amenities on the property are also amazing - from the rooftop deck, to the kayaks, to outdoor bathrooms - everything was clean and we had such a great time.

I will 100% be back next year for either another girls trip or a family vacation! Thanks David & Jess!!

Perfect getaway for you, you’re loved ones and fur babies. Had an amazing experience for mine and my boyfriends birthday weekend. From kayaking, fishing, to a 24 hr access hot tub, beautiful scenery especially in the fall, nice woodsy cabins this is a great place for you’re getaway! My only complaint is I wished I had found this place sooner.

I recently stayed two nights at this wonderful quaint resort. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the quirky little blue cabin overlooking the lake.

Any encounters with staff was very pleasant and helpful.

The check in and check out process was easy and seamless.

I will definitely be coming back to this cute little resort.
