We stayed here for our first pit stop doing Route 66 - since it was so close to the road, we decided this would be a unique stay, and it was! We were sad we could only do one night before getting on the road early the next morning, and it would make a great place for a family or group of friends as everyone can have their own cozy cabin.

We had three cabins for ourselves, our kids and grandkids. Cabins were clean, beds were great, and even had things for pet comfort! This was such a relaxing place, and waking up to a lake view every day is perfect. Lots of fish caught for a fish fry, and campfire at night. We also got food and wine at the winery. Everything tasted great! You cannot ask for better hosts than the owners. We loved this trip and plan to be back soon!

Stayed in Bungalow 14 for 4 days.
Perfect private get away. Lots to do in the area if your an antique/treasure (junk) hunter.
Had a couple hiccups, but owners took care of it all and made us feel welcome. The views are awesome and the area is very peaceful. Only got 1 night in the hot tub because the weather was not cooperating. But over all a great stay. We will definitely be coming back.
Oh and go to the Winery. Good eats and people!!

Our favorite quiet getaway. Been going several times a year fir over six years. Every cabin and cottage is thoughtfully and nicely decorated with a different theme. Very clean and well maintained. And pups are allowed in some of the cabins.

This is a wonderful find about an hour from home. We rented one cabin, son and his wife another cabin, daughter and husband another cabin. It was perfect! Cabins are clean, fishing is good, and owners are great! We also got excellent food from the winery. We will return when we can get cabins!

I'm very picky - not a "cabin" or camping girl, so everything has to be very CLEAN, and our cabin was just that! Very cute as well, and we had a great time. The winery right there is a plus! Chatted with the nice owner while there, had a wonderful dinner and great wine - had to buy an extra bottle to take home. I recommend staying here - very relaxing and reasonable rates - we will definitely be going back.

We rented three cabins on Shale Lake for a family get together. It was great! The cabins were clean & well appointed. Each cabin has a different theme, which was fun. (My husband & I were in the hippie cabin-perfect for us, although we were sad that the advertised lava lap wasn’t in sight). The cabin was the smallest of the three, but quite comfortable. We spent very little time inside-we were either outside or enjoying time on the screened in porch. |The grandkids loved sleeping in the loft & had a great time fishing & getting out on the lake. We made good use of the fire pits too. I enjoyed walking the trails, although I’m hoping they’re a little better maintained by our next visit. |One of the reasons we booked there was because we could bring our dogs. They had just as much fun as the rest of us! |Wifi wasn’t available in the cabins, but no one missed it (not even the 6 year old who claimed she’d probably die without it). Cell phone service was excellent. It was wonderful to be able to be together in such a beautiful, peaceful area.

This place is quiet and peaceful. The cabins are great and well equipped to fully cook meals and sleep in comfort. We will be coming back many more times for a quaint family experience. The only thing I hope for the future is a place to swim off a dock or beach.
