Such a cute little reset nestled in the mountains. Close to great hiking, lakes, and many Sierra County and Plumas County towns. I stayed here specifically todo some hiking in the area, and it was perfect.. I stayed in Cabin 2. It was perfect. Well stocked with everything I needed and a comfy bed. I also made sure to lounge and relax on the main deck overlooking the river in the gorgeous fall weather. ||TIP - Make sure to bring groceries with you or pick them up along your way as a “real” grocery store is nowhere nearby. The General Store in town has a small deli, and “the basics”, but the selection is limited.

What a nice personal greeting when we arrived during the Labor Day weekend! The owner walked us to our room in one of the cabins, and we had a deck and windows that opened up to the sounds of the river, mountains, and soaring birds. Our cabin room was updated, cozy and had everything we needed. When it's cool, there is a gas fireplace, too. The owner helped us with directions to a fun summer lawn concert. Buttes is only a short walk to groceries, museum, and a restaurant with patio dining. Definitely recommend, very highly. It's reasonably priced and we'll be back for any time we stay over near the Gold Lakes region!

Sierra City is gorgeous. The Buttes Resort is conveniently located in the heart of this quaint little town, within walking distance to the convenience store, gift store, saloon, and café. There is a perfect view of the Yuba river from the cabin’s deck, and the relaxing sound of the river lulls you to sleep at night and gently wakes you in the morning. You also have a beautiful view of the Sierra Buttes. The cabin was cozy, clean, and comfortable. The hosts were welcoming and friendly - as were all of the locals we chatted with during our stay.

A Perfect Stay for Adventure Seekers!

My husband and I recently stayed at The Buttes Resort in Sierra City, CA, and had a fantastic experience. We went up to spend the night on a Friday before an exciting day of mountain biking up to the Sierra Buttes Lookout from town. The cabin was comfortable, well-equipped, and had all the amenities we needed for a relaxing stay.

Jim & Rosa, the hosts, were incredibly helpful and friendly, making our stay even more enjoyable. We had a wonderful time exploring the charming town before our adventure day, which added to the overall experience. Although we checked out before heading out for the day, we found ourselves wishing we had booked a second night!

If you're looking for a cozy place to stay with great hosts and easy access to outdoor adventures, The Buttes Resort is the perfect spot.

We stayed in Room 10. The room was exactly as the pictures portrayed it. The owners were friendly and gracious, and the experience was precisely what we were hoping for! The view of the Yuba River Canyon was peaceful from the deck. While we only had a tiny glimpse of the river, it was near some fast-moving white water, so the sound was delightfully calming all night (we live in the desert and appreciate the sights and sounds of water).

We are looking forward to returning when we can stay for 2 nights!

Stayed here last summer and was pleased with the place at the given rate! Big deck for hanging out and rooms were pretty dang nice for an old town like sierra city.

We stayed in a super cute and comfortable cabin at The Buttes. The honeymoon suite was very spacious, and the view from the deck was incredible. It was especially lovely to see it from the bed when waking up. Jim is an attentive host who made a few accommodations for us without any trouble. I highly recommend The Buttes as a comfortable getaway into nature. The surrounding town, Sierra City, is adorable. It's tiny and has only two restaurants, so you may need to bring your own food or be prepared to drive 30 minutes to other dining options.
