03/22/25 - I’ve been going to The Beef House since 2010 when I was first dating my wife. I have seen many changes since then but the one thing that doesn’t change is the food.

The Beef House for us is an hour's drive from Lafayette, but it's well worth it. You wait to be seated before a server is assigned. We like to think we're regulars and request Kellie, as she's been our favorite server since before June 2020.

Last night, we met Angie for the first time, and I guess the look on my face gave it away that something wasn't right, because she immediately asked if we had someone else in mind. The only way to disguise my face was honesty. Angie was very kind to us and went to get Kellie, our regular and favorite server. Later Angie was joking about it at the end of our night.

The treat is the fresh, warm rolls they bring out before the meal, and a highlight here. They bring homemade strawberry jam and apple butter. I like butter on my rolls, and you see it melt as you spread it. Our kids enjoy the strawberry jam as well as the apple butter.

Like I mentioned, our favorite server is Kellie, so we make sure to go on Friday nights when we know she'll be working. This place doesn't offer deals or discounts for anyone, so it can be an expensive night out. We take a family drive and make it a treat night

We take our five kids, and they are all well-behaved, so Kellie is not afraid of them, and she treats them like people because she knows that even our 5-year-old can place her own order. The kids like the children menu as there’s something for each of them.

We like to order Cherry Coke because it was made with grenadine, but we found out that they are no longer using it. You can taste the difference between fountain and grenadine. It doesn’t matter because you have to have a soda. The girls like root beer. You always get water.

Your meal includes a salad (green, Caesar, cottage cheese, or applesauce). You also get a choice of soup (vegetable, broccoli cheese, or New England chowder). If you like chowder then make sure to try it here. It’s delicious and my favorite. I also go with the Caesar salad. My wife likes the vegetable or cheese broccoli so she switches it.

Steaks 🥩 My wife orders the filet mignon, and I order the 10oz ribeye. Our steak is made to order. My wife likes hers well done, while I like mine medium well. I've never had a problem. They are cooked to perfection.

Kellie does great checking on us, and I'm sure Angie will offer the same service. Our drinks are always kept filled and the roll basket is never empty.

I say make a date night and take the drive. Always a fun time for our family. Give it a try and make sure to ask for Kellie or Angie!

It's a BIG restaurant with a giraffe statue out front. What can be better than that? It's a bit pricey in my opinion but I'm also a major cheapskate. The beef house burger is a pretty decent cheeseburger-"one of the good ones" as Gabby Barrett would say (have to have a country music reference)-and the onion rings were a nice side. The rolls, though, are arguably the best part. SO SOFT!!! They're almost as good as Texas Roadhouse rolls. Lastly, you can get some great pictures here, like the ones I took. Please look at all of them so I can get a bunch of photo views on Google Maps. 🙂

A family favorite!!!! We make the drive out to Covington every time we are in Indianapolis for their Sunday special. It is so delicious!! The rolls are some of the best I have ever had and I always buy a jar of apple butter while I’m there - it is so good!! I usually get the Swiss steak and it is delicious - so tender and well seasoned. We always ask to sit in Kay Kay’s section as she is incredibly kind and efficient. Love the atmosphere in here as well! We will keep coming back!

Was wife and I's first time here, we both loved the atmosphere. The service was great and the food even better. We had frog legs and portobello mushrooms for appetizers both good. On to the cheddar broccoli soup, it was AMAZING! Wife had the 12 Oz ribeye that was cooked to perfection, while I had the 20 Oz T-bone also cooked to perfection. We can both report the taste is mouth watering, we saviored every bite until we couldn't and to go box we went. Will definitely be back!

When you walk in the Beef House you are immediately with the feeling of being back in 1975. It doesn't seem to have had any updates in a very long time.

The hostess sat us and it was a very short time later we had drinks. Our server was very attentive the whole time. Five stars for the service.

We each had a salad with ranch. Good salad. Crisp lettuce, an adequate amount of ranch, and everything on the salad was fresh tasting.

The rolls are to die for. They come wktj a strawberry spread, as well as some kind of apple butter spread. Both were good. As soon as the rolls were placed on the table I was brought back to my childhood when my grandmother made the very same rolls. As I was devouring roll after roll, telling my partner how they tasted just like grandma used to make, she reminded me that "anything a grandma makes, can't be good for you." She was right, so I slowed down on the rolls. But man, they're delicious.

I had the Alfredo with shrimp. It was OK, but the pasta was slightly overcooked. Not soggy, but a bit softer than it should have been.

My partner had the BBQ chicken, which she said was OK. Not great, but not terrible either.

We stopped here on a road trip back home to Chicago. If we make the trip again, we'll probably stop again. We'll order something different next time, but the rolls? Keep those coming.

Best meal I've had in a while. I got the twelve ounce steak. It was seasoned and cook perfectly. It came with the some of the best rolls and jam and a bowl of chili and a salad. service and atmosphere were great. Overall, highly recommend.

Back today for dinner. Great as always! Fresh hot rolls, butter and strawberry jam. Started with broccoli cheese soup, very good. Then a 6oz petite ribeye (there was more, I took a pic after I cut some off), baked potato with butter and sour cream. Wife started with vegetable soup (said it was "off") had a garden salad. Then the same meat, but mashed potatoes with gravy.

Always a treat, took home a dozen frozen rolls. If you use them within a few months, they proof very well and then bake as good as at the restaurant!

Enjoy!!

Just returned for lunch today. I had the Sunday special of Roast Beef, corn, a baked potato with butter and sour cream. Wife had the same but she chose mashed potatoes and green beans. That included two nicely chilled, crisp garden salads with French dressing for both of us and of course, the excellent baked rolls with butter, strawberry jam and/or apple butter. It was about 5 pieces of thinly sliced roast beef. I could have gone for just 2 thicker pieces but it was good. It was a lot of food. It was right at $50 for both. Which is fine given the amount of food provided. And that's just the way prices are these days. It's a great treat for us once in a while. The salad bar is no longer available. Our guess, Covid caused this. They give you 1 salad in a bowl. It's good, but no potato salad or Mac salad of any kind that we could see. Pics were uploaded, they are here somewhere!
