I got married here in Sept 2023 and it was a great experience. We managed to fit about 110 people but I wouldn’t recommend any more. We did both ceremony and reception here with a bar service, caterer, and DJ. The outdoor space was so lovely. I’d say that if you are ready to do a simple DIY wedding this is a great option. The park district staff were pretty helpful. I got confused about a few things, such as the required permit and a few others, but staff was happy to help me through the process!

My wife and I got married here-- great communication, very hands-off/flexible. Highly recommend if you want a personalized and inexpensive wedding venue in a beautiful location. No air conditioning and really designed to be an indoor-outdoor space, so weather was a gamble, but we got lucky and hope you do to!

My husband and I hosted our small family wedding here in May. The Park District staff were lovely to work with! We rented the whole venue and were able to use one room for food and beverage service and the other for dining. The patio area was perfect for our ceremony, and transformed into a dance floor/reception space after dinner. We were able to have a small bonfire for s'mores, too! A perfect venue if you're looking to have a more DIY event, and lovely space around the pavilion to take first look photos too. Highly recommend.

If you’re looking for an escape from the city, this 20 minute drive to Thatcher Woods is worth the trip. We ended up going around dusk and encountered many deer along the trail. Definitely a magical trail and lots of water to follow. Lots of nature along the way including several garden snakes. This trail is a bout a 2 mile loop and there is a pavilion you can visit as well. Definitely one of my favorite discoveries thus far this fall!

Great place for birding. Trails are easy to moderate. Good place to view the CCC work. Many wildflowers including wild aster, Queen Anne's Lace (wild carrot), and a plethora of others. Deer and coyote are fairly common. Be sure to visit the Museum and bird feeding station to the NW of the museum area. Lovely wildflower garden is located around the museum.
