I stayed here for 3 nights for a work trip. I had a nicely appointed and spacious room with a lake view. The location is great, as is the service. ||Had breakfast at the hotel each morning and it was great. …

This is a great value. Modern TV with lots of cable stations. Clean bathroom and quality towels and toilet paper. The best amenity is the unit heating. You can literally spoil yourself

Upon arriving our room we had booked wasn't available which was a king bed due to their website not having updated and therefore selling the room when unavailable. So we had to get a room with twin beds. Which doesn’t make sense since we had called earlier and our reservation had shown up, they definitely gave our room to someone else and made some lie about the system not updating.

The room we were given was nasty. Smelled and looked. Hairs EVERYWHERE. Shower curtain smelled of mildew, like everytime someone showered they didn’t bother to change it. It filled up the little bathroom with the stench. The towels also smelled horrid and mildewy as well, and one had hairs on it. The tub was absolutely disgusting, like it hadn’t been cleaned in the slightest either. The bed sheets had stains/holes in the them, and there was crumbs/food/hair behind on the bed frames. 2/3 of the pillows had some orange stains on them.
I was honestly scared I’d get bed bugs due to the condition of the rooms. You could tell nothing was clean.

I know motels/hotels aren’t the best, but this was beyond disgusting. Go elsewhere if you need to pay a bit more for something actually clean.

The first thing I noticed is that we were definitely in Illinois. There was an unique odor in the lobby. I realized what it as as I walked into the hallway. It was marijuana that spells like skunk. Evidently, l it's OK to smoke pot in the hotel. Thanks goodness the small didn't penetrate into our room. Room was clean, but mattress was hard. Disappointed with continental breakfast. There were 2 kinds of cereal, apples, oranges, and slices of bread. The juice machine was out of order. Didn't pay attention to coffee or tea because i don't drink that.

Stay LITERALLY anywhere else --
I have given this hotel over 4 months now to try to make this right and I have not received any communication so I will share what happened in hopes that it may help other people avoid any issues:
My fiancé and I arrived at the hotel on 8/9/24 around 4pm. We were going to see the Metallica show that night, so we were there for an hour at most (enough time to check-in, drop our things off, change, turn a light on for when we got back and leave.) We came back around 1am and our keycard didn't open our door. We had the front desk clerk use their master key and they couldn't either and they ended up using a physical key to try to open it only to find out it had been locked from the inside. We were able to partially open the door (about an inch) and we could see that all of the lights were off. We managed to put a phone in the room and take a photo with the flash on and we didn't see anyone in the room, but we did notice some of the items were missing. We spent the next hour and a half trying to get the door open the whole way. The front desk clerk insisted that someone else had to be in the room and asked us maybe 15 times if we had another person with us that was in the room (nobody came with us.) They called the room, the checked the window from the outside and tried to offer us a different room while we waited for maintenance to come in the morning to open the door. When we were insistent that nobody was with us and that we did not want to just wait and we tried to open it ourselves, maintenance did show up and get the door open immediately. Once we did confirm that some of our bags had been stolen with our electronics, we did also notice that the window was slightly open (which is weird that the front desk clerk didn't notice it when they went and looked MULTIPLE times.) We called the police to report our stuff stolen, and did not get done with everything until about 4am. We slept just long enough to wake up and drive home because we no longer felt safe at the hotel and did not have the funds to find a hotel within a good distance to go to the second night of the concert, nor were we necessarily in the spirits. When we checked out, I did talk to the person at the front desk that morning and they said they had heard what happened and said they could offer to switch my room, but I informed them we were checking out. They responded with, "but your checkout date isn't until Monday (8/12," I let them know that we no longer felt safe, and I would like to request a refund for stay since we weren't staying most of the nights and for the inconveniences we experienced. The manager was not available, and I was given an email that I tried to contact, but I received no response. I had booked through Expedia so I tried messaging the property manager through Expedia with no success. I then contacted Expedia directly through messaging and they tried contacting them several times and were told by the front desk that they had no notes regarding my stay, but they left several messages and tried several times and got no response. Lastly, I went through Super 8's corporate office and they had originally said that since it was through Expedia, I would need to go through Expedia, but after I had tried that and explained that, they said they would look into the issue and to expect to hear from the property manager. I have not heard a single thing from anyone since. (The last email from them was 10/13/24.) Just some information: We did have a little over $2,000 worth of items stolen and the only thing we asked for was a refund for the stay, we were on the 1st floor so if you do have to stay here (don't), definitely do not stay on the first floor, and we have not gotten anything back (we didn't expect to despite some of the items having trackers in them,) and we did not open the window before we left.
