I can’t say enough about this place. Sondra was such a phenomenal host. The space is so inviting and clean, but cozy as well. We loved the room we stayed in, the bed was super comfortable. Outside of this, Sondra has such a welcoming and bubbly personality. She was able to give us great advice for the rest of our trip and help us choose great places for food and drinks. It was also enjoyable just sitting down and talking with some wine after being out for dinner in Anchorage. Just icing on the cake, but breakfast was AMAZING! The breakfast burrito was awesome, along with the fresh fruit, pastry, bacon, OJ, and lattes (yes, you’re going to leave the breakfast table stuffed and happy). My husband had the French toast, and it was the best I’ve ever had. Staying at SunStar was an experience rather than just a stop on our trip!

I spent a wonderful five nights as a guest at the SunStar Alaska Bed and breakfast. The home is beautiful and located in a quiet residential area near Anchorage, the airport and the Seward highway. Sondra is a gracious host and shared many tips for both iconic and lesser known beautiful places to visit in and around Anchorage. The rooms were so comfortable and nicely furnished. Sondra was very accommodating to the needs of all the guests. She signed up for Peacock so that I could watch the Olympics at night. Sondra is a great chef and breakfasts were made to order, plentiful and delicious. I met so many nice and interesting guests during my stay. Sondra has created a very special bed and breakfast and I highly recommend it for your stay in Anchorage.

We stayed at Sondra's B&B for 3 nights. She's the perfect host - very personable with in depth knowledge about the area with suggestions of what to do based upon your interests and where to eat. And my goodness, what a fabulous made to order breakfast offering she provides! The little touches helped too, bottles of water and snacks in the bedroom, bathrobes, personal amenities in the bathroom to use as needed...she's truly thought of everything.
We had a room with a shared bath. It was very comfortable and her entire property is spotless. My only suggestion would be for a bit more storage in the bedroom.
Should we find ourselves again in Anchorage in the future, we'll certainly look to stay with Sondra at the SunStar.

Sondra was hands down the best host I’ve ever had and made our experience in Anchorage amazing. Everything about the bed and breakfast is perfectly planned and she makes you feel right at home. The house is incredibly clean, her breakfast is amazing and Sondra is wonderful. This bed and breakfast is a fraction of what you’ll pay at any hotel in Anchorage yet the experience is so much better. Highly recommend!

We would definitely return to Sondra’s B&B! We were a party of 5 with 2 rooms. Sondra was like a long-time friend; we were extremely comfortable in her B&B. The breakfast was very delicious—she’s an excellent chef! You won’t be disappointed when you book with SunStar Alaska in Anchorage.

If you are on the fence about where to stay in Anchorage, stop looking and book SunStar. You will not regret it. Sondra is an amazing hostess, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the property is quiet and very well maintained, and the bathrooms are very clean with all amenities you will need. But by far what sets SunStar apart from anywhere else you will stay is the breakfast. Sondra is an incredible chef and prepares a giant custom-order breakfast for you every morning of your stay. The food was so delicious with homemade bread, fresh fruit, and amazing dishes, including smoothies, egg scrambles, pancakes/waffles, and even gluten free options. I had fun conversations with other guests both mornings and really enjoyed the experience. I would definitely stay again... and sharing a bathroom is no big deal with multiple bathrooms you can use.

Tired of being treated corporately by the major hotel chains? Sondra is the best: Breakfast, Laundry, Anchorage knowledge and great rooms! You don’t just pay and get a mediocre breakfast and then have to pay for any extras. I really enjoyed my stay. You get TV with Youtube, netflix, and other options. The location is also fantastic in Anchorage. This is the place to book and stay. This is a quiet area too.
