Negative review for sunburst rv resort in Milton Florida.
My husband and I accepted two work camping postions there. Our agreement was $14 per hour, 20 hours each and a free sight and electric.
The manager was also new. As soon as she arrived she started questioning me about our volunteer hours. I told her we weren't required to have any. We were expected to pitch in at events as necessary but we didn't have specific volunteer hours.
The regional manager flew in to train us all. The manager Lisa would roll her eyes and make faces behind the regional managers face while we were walking around the park. I asked the regional manager in front of Lisa (the park manager) for clarification on my volunteer hours. She stated the exact thing we agreed on.
After regional manager leaves, Lisa approaches me and states she is changing our contract. We would be doing 18 hours a week of volunteer hours that would be payment for our site and everything additional would be our check. This was not the agreed terms. I requested an email between her, myself and the regional manager. I was denied this request. I was told I was not allowed to email the Regional manager ever.
After some more issue, I did reach out to the regional manager. She scheduled a video call with myself and the manager. We got a few things worked out.
Lisa is difficult to work with. If you have any suggestions she will flat out ignore you and change the subject. Part of our jobs was to be trained for a manager postion at a different park. Lisa treated us like we were low class citizens. We came into this with a positive attitude and ready to turn this park around and pitch in.
After one of the first encounters with Lisa she found out we were making $14 an hour. She looked at me and said "oh I would never have hired you for that much pay, if I hired you I would have given you minimum wage". I found this statement to be unprofessional and flat out rude especially since this was the second time we had talked.
I've caught Lisa in a few minor lies and can't trust anything she says. At one time, Lisa saw me walking from the family pool with my family and stopped to tell me a last minute reservation had come in and I had to clean tomorrow. It was my day off. I canceled my plans and did it. On another occasion I was called by James to put bedding unto a cabin because a guest wanted to switch cabins. I had been off work for 2 hours at that point. I was not an on call employee.
One other large issue with this park is James. He is the owners friend (so he says). He is not a paid employee but lives on site on owner side. He drives around on his atv and claims to be a "security". This park is in the middle of farmland with no crime. He drives around and watches my kids and the other kids play. He eavesdrops on private conversations in our individual campsite. I made a friend at the rv park who is a long term stay. She was at my site hanging out when James drives up and sits down with us. She made a few comments about contacting the owner. She was joking but James told the manager what was said. He is borderline stalking the rv guests. He made all of our kids uncomfortable to the point where we had to tell our kids they were not to speak with him.
Last week I went in to clean a cabin and found the cabin to be trashed. I only had 2 hours before I needed to clock out. I had an appointment that afternoon and couldn't work past 2 which is my schedule. I did my best and cleaned everything. When I left I let Lisa know that I didn't have time to put the liens in the cabin. She said that was fine.
I came into work today and she wanted to talk to me. She had complaints about the cleaning. She knew that I didn't have the proper time to clean the cabin and it was done quickly. I told her I had an appointment I wasn't able to reschedule. I shouldn't have to disclose any appointments after my scheduled work hours. She and the regional manager had apparently talked and I was told I have to stay and finish the cabins. She said it wasn't her job to help clean the cabins. It's a
