Food was okay. I liked the tender ribs, they just lacked flavor. I didn't care for the bbq sauce at all. The links were nice and spicy, but maybe a little dryer than I prefer

If you're in the mood for bq and find yourself in this part of Illinois, head to Stone Jug.

Their hot links and BBQ shrimp are my favorites, but the pulled chicken and brisket are also pretty good. Another area where they shine is the drink selection; if you like mixed drinks try the pineapple snow day. Otherwise they have a solid assortment of beers and bourbons to suit your fancy. Prices are reasonable and the service left no complaints.

My wife and I were going to go south for some fried chicken 🐓 and instead we were thinking about bbqd ribs and this place came up on our search for ribs so we decided why not go there and give it a try and see how it tastes and to our surprise 😮 it was delicious and tender, the smell of it was amazing and the taste was amazing well worth going there and we will definitely be going back there again in the future for all of what we got it was well worth the price. When you get there and walk through the door you will walk up to the cashiers and give them your order and they give you a number and they bring your food 🍱 out to you it’s really a nice place.

Service was good and food was OK.
Had the pulled pork sandwich, hot links, sliced brisket, mac’n cheese and mashed potatoes.
The meats were good, but a little bland. The hot links were very tasty and actually quite spicy - very good! The Mac’n cheese was also very good, but the mashed potatoes was unfortunately not a winner - felt like a cross between mashed potatoes and potato salad.

Have heard great things about Stone Jug and finally made it to try it. It measured up to the talk. We all left happy. Not sure how many times I said mmmmmm while eating the Mac n cheese. It was phenomenal. I think the best Mac n cheese I've ever had at a restaurant before, actually. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! I'm very picky about Mac n cheese.

The chicken and ribs had a dry rub. The chicken was moist. All was good.

When you walk in grab some menus and find a table. After you decide what you want to eat go up to the counter to order and pay. It's mostly self service. You get your own drinks. They'll bring you your food, but you throw your trash away.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

This is the best place for barbecue in Peru, IL. The portions were huge and sumptuous. I have tried thier bbq chicken and brisket combo along with coleslaw and cornbread and it was a huge win. They have helpful staff and a full sized bar. On a late summer weekday evening, there were a considerable number of customers at the restaurant. Everything seemed fresh and meats were tender. Would certainly go back again.

We have been here for takeout through the pandemic and have always enjoyed it today we were able to order and eat inside. The restaurant was very clean and well kept. It was handicap accessible which I appreciate. The restrooms were very clean and also accessible. You order at the counter then have a seat they then bring your food to you. The bar had multiple drink specials so we ordered a Lemon Shakeup and it was very tasty. The service was very friendly, helpful and efficient. We ordered ribs, chicken, burnt ends, pastrami sandwich, mac n cheese, and baked beans it was all very good. They have 4 sauces in squeeze bottles on each table which made it nice to try them out on the different foods. The nonalcoholic beverages were self serve Coke products. We had quite a bit of food leftover to take home to be enjoyed another day. I would not hesitate to return to this place.

This is quite the quaint barbecue joint! Great food!! Would recommend everything we ate, but especially the burnt ends and St. Louis style ribs. Really good cheesy hash browns too! Quite a few good options to choose from. The decor is very realistic rustic, creating a very neat atmosphere. The service was efficient and friendly. I kind of hope I end up back in Peru soon so I can get a chance to eat here again!
