I would recommend reading the recent reviews of the hotel to get the best idea of what a stay is like here. The rooms were recently updated, but have not been kept up - could be cleaner. Overall was not made to feel very welcome when we first stepped in to when we checked out. Staff was not very welcoming and the front desk was empty most of the time. Not told about breakfast or amenities, so not sure what hotel had to offer. We thought we were the only people staying at the hotel, until both nights had people running up and down the hallway, talking loudly, and smoking weed despite the no smoking policy of the hotel. Throughout the night, the group would loudly bang on our door and run away. Such a rude and inconsiderate thing to do to strangers. We felt calling the front desk would make things worse, since it seemed that they knew each other, were hanging out/conversing when we did see people in the lobby. They eventually stopped around 3am so we got what little sleep we could. Honestly, this place needs some drastic changes or management to step up. Everything felt very unprofessional. This was one of the worst stays I’ve had at a hotel and I really don’t require much apart from a safe and comfortable environment, which this hotel did not provide at all. It is such a shame that this hotel is right in the heart of the city, walking distance from Lincoln sites and the Capitol building. Avoid this place and stay in a chain/name brand hotel if you can. Read the most recent reviews of this place versus “most relevant” to get the best idea of this place.

Could not find a hotel near my convention for miles. I happen to stop into State House Inn to attempt to get a room. My experience was nothing less than amazing!!! The front desk attendant Cindy was very helpful and welcoming. She was very patient with me as well. She had a few issues with room mix-ups and had to call the Manager. Her name was Ella. Ella was also very welcoming and accommodating. She found a workaround to get me a room on such short notice. I was so happy and relived. If you are ever in Springfield and need a pleasant greeting and a smile with excellent customer service, PLEASE visit State House Inn!!!

I have had the previous pleasure of staying at this place for the past three years 2021-2023 for a wresting tournament that comes to Springfield. This will be the last time we stay at this location.
Upon arrival there were 2 staff at the desk. One of which was clearly fairly new, and the other was by all looks and demeanor was being rude to a customer at the desk. The hotel had somehow had severe issues with their in house room booking system. Their staff had not updated rooms correctly so they had no ideas essentially what rooms where available and had checked a family into a room that was occupied. Staff in house then decided to downgrade them to a smaller room and offer a refund. The room was booked 2 weeks in advance but the staff stated they were very full. When I finally arrived at the counter after several others complained similarly, I was interrupted by the original customer who stated the room they had moved them to had no Heat. Mind you it is 5 degrees outside. The family stated they were leaving the hotel. This should have been my cue but the only hotel available was several hundred dollars so into the void we went. They checked us into the double when we also paid for a king suite. Next they stated it would be a “while” until the suite was “ready”. When we got back the room we where moved to was indeed a king suite. However the electricity in the bedroom didn’t work, the door to the closet was hanging off to the side and there was food from a previous customer. So they moved us for a third time however they only could give us a double with a king bed adjoining. Upon arrival the staff stated we would be getting rooms across from one another. Forcing my wife and myself to sleep in separate rooms for the evening. Genuinely the staff ended up being very polite. But that doesn’t fix the fact that the entire hotel was in a state of disrepair…elevator had caution tape and door open obviously broken. I’m unsure how this place isn’t hit for code violations of some sort. We made it through the night. The staff offered to refund me but told me I needed to have the booking site I used call her if I wanted said refund. Do yourself a solid and stay elsewhere this isn’t great place

Over my recent 3-day stay, my room never got above 65 degrees (echoing other recent reviews), there was no breakfast service, the lounge area was roped off and unusable, and there'd be no one at the reception desk for long periods of time (45 minutes on one count) as the few working staff seemed to take lengthy breaks together.||The hotel has not aged well. I last stayed here 12 years earlier. Back then, the rooms were furnished with mid century modern furnishings in fun colors. Now, it's standard, brown hotel furniture. The hallway lighting is bleak and the hotel looks a bit dingey.

This place is HORRIBLE!! Checked in and a select few of the rooms had heat. Two friendly male employees tried to assist by running from room to room checking for heat, while the owner was in his room. Yes, I said in his room, but never came down to assist with the heating issue! Several families canceled their reservation after waiting hours with no results. It’s 8pm after driving for 3 hours!! Did I mention the owner was on site in his warm room!! This place has new owners, it’s the pits! Dirty floor, dirty carpet, dirty rooms and elevator..

Briefly, we stayed for 2 nights with no heat, broken elevators, and lots of little things. ||||Here is the longer version. Checked in to a room on the 2nd floor. Good thing we were only on the second floor, because the elevators don’t work. Walked in to the room to find the thermostat was being worked on with tools and equipment scattered about. Temp in room was 59 F. We were moved to the room next door. The keycard mechanism was very annoying. One card wouldn’t open the door at all, and the other worked about one in ten tries. No heat in that room either. Called to ask about the heat. They didn’t know what was wrong or when it would be fixed, but everyone was complaining. The toilet in our room had fecal remnants sitting in brown poo water. The coffee maker had gross old discolored water in the reservoir. We were in a hurry and didn’t have time to change rooms again. Got back to the hotel later. Called the front desk repeatedly to ask for extra blankets, but the calls were sent to a full voicemail. Walked down to front desk, they said they would send it right up. An hour later, had to go back down. Understandably, it got lost in the shuffle because NO ONE HAD HEAT and everyone was complaining and needing help. They were apologetic and brought up the blanket a few minutes later. ||||The last morning (still no heat by the way), there was no coffee and no breakfast served. Plus the morning front desk worker didn’t show up. They were supposed to be there at 7am, but still no one there at 10:30 when we left. The guy that was there couldn’t use the computer system. Tried to buy a snack from their shop, and the guy had no way to ring it up. He just gave it to us. I will say that although the workers were friendly and as helpful as they could be given their situation, none of them wear a uniform or a name tag. They are in street clothes and usually congregate in the customer areas rather than behind the desk. One lady did have the usual business casual attire, but everyone else was in street clothes. It is just confusing when you can’t tell the customers from the workers. I feel bad for them because it isn’t their fault the building is falling apart, but they have to deal with everyone yelling at them. We will be demanding a full refund. ||||I had been here several times between 2014-2017. This place used to be nice. It is not the same at all.

DO NOT STAY HERE!! Dirty!! Sticky floors!!!||Our night at this hotel was one of the most nerve racking nights I have lived through in a hotel! Housekeeping was working at 12 at night! Knocking on doors, yelling housekeeping it scared me. I heard lots of loud voices in the hallway throughout the night! I tried to call down to the front desk, but my phone was not working in the room. I tried calling from my cell phone and they were not answering! The next morning when I asked what was happening, they told me they were short staffed and since it was full, they needed to do housekeeping at midnight this made no sense to me! I couldn’t sleep because I was on guard all night. ||We will never stay in this hotel again!

I had repeated charges to my account from State House Inn. My stay was supposed to close $267. My card was charged over $1100, some of those charges still coming days after check out. When trying to get it sorted I was told “we don’t deal with payments. The managers not here. The copy machine doesn’t work” When calling days later “our managers not here. Our system is down.” ||The front desk worker was sitting in a chair not helping people. The lobby smelled like pot. I received email there would be a limited breakfast while they were making changes. That “limited” breakfast was a cold pot of coffee at an unattended front desk. ||DO NOT STAY HERE. They will 100% try to scam you.
