After driving in from the east coast, for a 3-day stay at this motel, we quickly requested a refund and drove to O'Fallon to stay. The motel should be condemned. We encountered stains on the "clean" sheets and pillow cases, thick mold on the bathroom window, dead bugs on the floors, etc. If I could rate a 1/ 4 star I would. I would recommend you run far away from this unsatisfactory motel.

The owners and management team at Sparta Motel should be ashamed of themselves. This place was the most disgusting hotel I’ve ever stepped foot in. There was black mold all over the walls and ceiling. I have videos and pictures. There were roaches and it seemed like the room hadn’t been cleaned in at least several weeks. The pictures online are many years old and they do not depict what the rooms really look and smell like. I’m calling the health department tomorrow. This place needs to be shut down before somebody that stays there gets sick. I’ve never in my life seen anything like this. I feel sorry for anybody that has to stay there. Please don’t take your pets or children here. It’s not safe for them to breathe the air there.

If it’s possible to give 0 stars I would. The department of health should really shut this place down. The mattress had black grime, it seems as if it has never been updated since it first opened. It is as if duster never touched an inch of any room. And the smell… I can’t even begin to explain it. We had to go to Walmart and get air scent to help mask it. The only thing I can say is that, I didn’t see roaches. But saying that indicates that bar is in hell for this place.
To think, this place cancelled our reservation and had the nerve to charge $30 more because of a stupid eclipse.

Never stayed in a worse place in my life!
We had to stay there for a week because everywhere else was sold out..

We literally bought bleach and a mop at wal mart and cleaned the floors and shower our selves after our feet and socks got dirty from walking around after showering!

Great if you didn't want to sleep in your car for the night and you've always wanted to sleep in a dirty shack for $140 a night. The room we stayed in was decorated with blood stains, roaches, questionable stains on the bed sheets. To top it all off, if you really like to be hot and sweaty, the AC doesn't work.

I own a home near this building. If you enjoy drug dealers, hookers, trash, bad smells, no heat, no air and many times no electricity. But plenty of roaches, silverfish, and bed bugs. This is your place. While the city police are called almost hourly. It remains open😡

Rooms are scary and outdated. Smells like a old shed. The pillows are so thin. The towels are discolored. Everything outdated. No wifi. Walls have remains from some liquids going down them. There's a roach trap when u come into the room. But I didn't see roaches thank God. Dogs allowed for $10.

Dont believe the pictures. This is the worst ever. There is absolutely no cleaning what so ever. In any way there is no cleaning. My sheets were extremely dirty and stinky. Room had dirt, bugs and urine everywhere. Sheets had hair of all sorts. Curtains from windows were torn and taped w duct tape. Showered curtains was extremely old. Fridge had lots of mold. The guy in lobby wore the same clothes everyday. Smelled bad. Absolutely no hospitality. Very rude. Health department will have to fix the sanitation problem. It's a must.
