I am devastated this place is not open right now! I wanted to ask them for a long-term rental in a specific bungalow that I love. I have no idea how to get a hold of anyone there now it's been a while since I've been back there. You can't ask for a better place to stay. The location it's perfect, the grounds are beautiful, in my opinion, perfect and so is Managment. I stayed there many times during the process of looking for a place in Scottsdale , with my little dog Suki end it was almost like staying on a private residence, a beautiful private residence. There was no fence around the pool or anything yucky like that it was just absolutely gorgeous I love it so much. I stayed in different bungalows, which is great about this place they're all different and you can have full kitchen amenities, the beds are super comfortable, good water pressure in the showers, fruit trees, Mountain views, close to all the restaurants and shopping that's a matter fact one of the finest steak houses in town is right across the street. I'm telling you, if you like quiet ,remote , family feeling accommodations ,this is it. If you guys get a chance to read this please contact me I want to be updated on what's going on if you don't mind, thank you,

We've been coming to Scottsdale for years and only wish we had found this place sooner. They are very low key and very wonderful. Our "bungalow" was clean, very roomy with many amenities such as refrigerator, coffee pot, wine glasses, comfortable chairs, and a work table. Best of all there was a patio and likewise comfortable chairs. it was very pleasant to sit out in the evening and have a glass of wine. As each unit is separated from others, it is very quiet. The grounds are well-maintained. There is a 24-hour pool, bocci ball and interesting sculptures as you walk around the lawns. The owners couldn't have been friendlier or more accommading as was the cleaning staff.

We booked the SmokeTree for a weekend stay in Scottsdale. The location is ideal, and the price was good. We were traveling with a dog, and they didn’t charge a pet fee, which is nice.||The property is a collection of small buildings, with three or four rooms in each. The rooms are more like old style apartments, with cinder block construction and low ceilings. There are mini kitchens, a full living room, separate bedroom, and large walk-in closet, which is really not useful for a short stay. The bathroom is small, with no counter space making it pretty inconvenient.||Though the hotel description on TripAdvisor states “recently remodeled”, the room was very outdated and in need of maintenance. A fresh coat of paint would go a long way. The furniture is worn and out of style. The bed was really old and extremely uncomfortable. The carpet was worn at the transition from the tile in the living area. It is possible that we were put into an older room because we were traveling with a pet, but I walked the grounds and the exterior of all the buildings looked like they were all in the same shape. ||The hotel description on TripAdvisor also indicates the property is 5 acres, but I would say it’s barely one. The gardens are well taken care of, and the pool area is nice, but smaller than it looks in the photos. It is really nice with a dog because the pool area is fenced in, and covered in grass. ||The staff were very pleasant and friendly. We had a problem with a noisy neighbor (as I said, there is no sound proofing), and they responded quickly and were very pleasant about it.||All in all, the SmokeTree could be a really nice place, but it does need some attention. I think they’d be better off renting as a vacation rental for longer stays and people looking for more of a home away from home feeling.

Wow. This is one of those old-fashioned resorts that are disappearing from the American landscape. The rooms are very comfortable and large, although a bit dated. The grounds are beautiful and there is a lovely heated swimming pool. They have horseshoes and bocce ball and it is close to Great stores and restaurants. I wish we had been able to stay for a week. I truly loved this place. Oh, the best part is that it is very pet-friendly! I am sad to report this wonderful, historic, resort has closed! Shame on Scottsdale.

Being a child of the 60's growing up in Phoenix the property was like a walk down memory lane. We stayed in the large suite (I could have moved in and been very comfortable) there were all the amenities we needed including an upscale grocery within walking distance. ||||Our room opened out to a large patio with ample setting choices in fact that's where we spent most of our time chatting with other guests and enjoying the mature shade trees. The property is pet friendly and our two little ones were welcomed with open arms. ||||My husband and I were there to relax and relax we did. I don't know why I never found this resort before but I'm sure we will be back.

This place is a hidden gem! Each room is a personal bungalow, the grounds are breathtaking and the service is top-notch! The landscaping is green and mature- I almost forgot I was in Phoenix! It has a family atmosphere that makes you instantly feel comfortable. There are complimentary bikes (and helmets!) a half-court basketball court, a little home-like gym packed full of any equipment you can imagine and a small pool that is nestled in a beautiful gated area that has grills and comfy lounge areas that make it easy to forget the world outside. And we stayed for less than $100/night! I was blown away that I didn’t even know this place existed and fell in love with it almost instantly. We already extended our stay and will definitely be returning again!

To those people who've whined in their reviews about the lack of perfection -- scratchy towels, unpaved areas of the parking lot, a water spot on the ceiling, etc. -- go stay in a chain and whine there. I don't see how anybody could not like staying at SmokeTree. You get SO much more vs. staying at a chain. Our bungalow (#7) was delightful -- spacious living room with both couch and comfy chair/ottoman, a backyard with grass, table/chairs, and lots of interesting trees and bushes (many in bloom), kitchen complete with sink, microwave, fridge, plates/bowls/glasses/silverware and dining table with 2 chairs, bedroom with comfy bed and 2nd TV, clean and bright bathroom, walk-in closet with more room than we could possibly use, parking right at our door. The grounds are lovingly maintained and quiet. Interesting birds I'm not familiar with running around the grounds. A koi pond. I moved my unit's table and chairs from the patio to a shady spot far in the backyard under some trees and then spent hours reading my newspapers and books to the sound of birds singing and chirping. Saw a very large lizard sunning itself on a rock. The staff was friendly and helpful. Could some things have been better? Of course, there's always room for improvement. But such things were far outweighed by the uniqueness and home-like feel of this place. This was our first stay here, but it won't be our last.

Smoketree Resort is an older resort owned and managed by a family. Each room opens on a large shaded green area, each with a patio and chairs. It’s a restful, quiet place to stay, and it’s our local favorite. There are refrigerators and coffee makers in the rooms, and there is a upscale grocery store nearby. Prices are significantly lower than other Scottsdale/Paradise Valley resorts or motels. It doesn’t look impressive from the road since there is a closed restaurant in the front, but once you drive around to the rooms, you find a sweet and restful retreat.
