We really enjoyed staying at the Sonora Town Hall. If you are looking for a well maintained, super clean, quiet and private getaway this is it! The cozy furnishings and decor are beautiful and look new. The location is a perfect country setting, and just a short drive to Nauvoo. We very much enjoyed our stay and Greta was a pleasure to work with. We can’t wait until our next relaxing visit. Thanks again! We will definately be back.

Sonora Gardens Farmstead is located southeast of Nauvoo. About a ten minute drive. Sonora Gardens is a bed and breakfast home located on a grain farm. Your hostess Greta, will make you feel like part of her home during your stay. After feasting on her homecooked breakfast, you may not need lunch! Fresh fruit and homebaked rolls are always included. While checking in you will find a plate of homemade cookies and a cool drink. This is very refreshing after a busy day of travel. Greta has one full size room and can accomadate up to six family members in her homey B&B.

After train delays and car rental delays, it was dark when my 70-year old mother, 11-year old son and I pulled into the Sonora Town Hall, conveniently located just outside of Nauvoo, IL. With candles glowing in every window and corn fields all around us, we opened the front door and were absolutely delighted with our temporary new home! The size, ceiling height, whitewashed wood floors, cleanliness and lovely country decor & furnishings were better than we had anticipated! (The photos don't do it justice). The owner, Greta lives in the farmhouse on the same property which is also a bed & breakfast and I had no idea the Town Hall itself (a separate one-room building with luxurious private bath) had such a beautifully rich history & was once a real town hall! This property is truly a hidden gem and so affordable. If you are looking for location, privacy, value and country charm - this is the place! We will definitely stay here again!

We've stayed at Sonora Gardens Bed and Breakfast a few times in the Town Hall and have loved it each time we stayed. The innkeeper takes great care of you, the frig is stocked and warm sweet bread is waiting as soon as you get there. We loved the whirlpool bath and the living room area. We brought our little baby and there was plenty of space to move around. The bed was so comfortable, not like any other hotel bed.|I was so amazed when I got there-it looked like I stepped right into Martha Stewart's Magazine.|If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway, this place is great!|

This location was a beautiful getaway. From lavender theme is everywhere threw out. My wife was and still talking about it. Definitely recommend this spot for price we charged lived like kings and queens here. Has the history of the town hall as well to even the host leaving stuff like qtips, make remover wipe, to mouth wash cups. Has coffee, creamer in fridge with sugar cubes as well not cheap packets. This place Definitely feels like a home vibe. And if down to watch the sunset, we'll this is definitely recommend place with the views going down from the xorn fields around. Lots of lighting bugs flying around lighting the grass and sky up as us can sit and watch them on little bench by the lavender and flower rows by cornfield. This place is definitely a must for couples that need to get away from kiddos, or even night out and relax this place will leave you wanting to come back and stay another night like us, not wanting to leave.

We stayed at the Sonora Town Hall property over the Thanksgiving Weekend. Greta was the perfect hostess. The large room was decorated in Christmas decor - she asked if we wanted it that way and felt very cozy, though it is a HUGE room. She left us to ourselves for the three nights we were there, though we could have opted for breakfast for $10 more. I do have 2 suggestions (see below), but I would not have stayed anywhere else in Nauvoo. The price was excellent for the great room we got. Be aware that Greta does not clean every day, but this really was not a problem. We enjoyed being left to ourselves and seeing the Church History sites in Nauvoo.||||We originally booked a room at the Nauvoo Family Inn & Suites, but canceled to stay here. I 'm so glad we did! We did stop by the Nauvoo Family Inn & Suites and found patrons sifting through envelopes with keys to their rooms in the locked lobby. There apparently was no staff on hand to assist them with the check in process. Greta was always available by telephone to answer questions.||||The location is about ~ 5 miles to the sites in Nauvoo, but the drive is short and at this time of year there really are not many good options for food in Downtown Nauvoo. So by staying at this location, you are 1/3 the way to Keokuck - which does have some good restaurants and you can really have some privacy.||||||Two suggestions:||1. Please put a chest of drawers and/or an armoire. in your cute room. I really like to unpack my suite case and put away my clothes. I am just particular about this.||||2. Please flush the jetted tub before we get there. I used it once, but the jets spit out little black flecks. This happens in our jetted bath tub at home when it is not used for several months.
