My family and I are here visiting from Fairbanks and had the most rude and disgusting experience with the property manager around 8:30 pm 10/25/2024 as we were leaving the lodge. My mother rented the room and was never called or messaged or emailed by anyone and we were not “slamming doors” or being unreasonably noisy especially given that there is no “quiet time” listed. She burtsed out of her room - barely presentable - to yell at us while we were trying to get a group photo. She proceeded to point and yell at me directly saying she messaged me and that I told her she had the wrong number. I didn’t book this room so they have zero contact information to me. We are extremely uncomfortable to even go back there but unfortunately we have to at least for tonight. Hopefully we will get a refund for tomorrow night. I would NEVER recommend anyone stay here unless you are a hermit or a mute. We are extremely disappointed with how she chose to handle that situation instead of speaking to us like customers. Again we were never given a warning or even the courtesy of a knock on our door to inform us that anyone was bothered or that anyone had complained. Cute rooms and good location though.

There is no view from these rooms. We looked at an alley with cars and rooftops so our curtains were closed the entire time. You could not open the windows as there were no screens, we'll one but it had a hole in it. Do not book this room if you are elderly. Getting up the stairs is a chore, parking is a pain and we'll stepping into a tall clawfoot tub to shower isn't easy for most people over 60. There could be SOME shelves in the bathroom, there is literally nowhere for your stuff. We had to get breakfast at the grocery store as the restaurant wasn't open when we were there. Kitchen is cute. Once I got the ceiling fan going I slept better. It got hot and stuffy. It was clean and bed was comfy.

I totally dug this place. My bride, not so much. We stayed in the Sunrise Suite which is garage sale decorated, but, as I said, I totally dug it. It's really cool-funky. I mean the place is heated with radiators. Haven't seen that since I left Annapolis, Maryland in 1956 when I was six.||Ultra centrally located. If you want to drink and not drive, this place is for you. And the continuum of bars are from the bottom to pretty close to the top. Plus the SeaLife Center is just a couple of blocks away.||The other rooms on the website do not appear to have the 'charm' of the sunrise suite.

I really wanted to give this place a good rating because the units are cute enough and the location is great, but the treatment we received was abhorrent. The manager or owner was extremely rude to us every time we spoke with her. The pull out bed is barely functional and the unit had men walking around on the roof directly out the windows making noise early in the morning.

We were so happy checking in and exploring this nostalgic, vintage styled building - but our smiles turned to shock and disgust when we were confronted by the property manager at 8:45 pm, as we gathered to take a selfie before heading down 4th Ave to see the sites. This woman rudely accused my daughter of ignoring her messages, which was so strange since how would she know her name or her phone number? Instead of having the memorable family night out we expected we spend the time wondering what we did to warrant this confrontation. The property manager said we were being too loud and slamming doors - which we had just carried our luggage and groceries to our room before dressing for the night out. And, even if we were talking too loud for her liking, this occurred well before the posted quiet times. (10pm) We considered leaving for the night as to not be on pins and needles for the the 2nd night of our stay. I would love to rebook for another time in Seward, as I am frequently there… but what a strange feeling, feeling as though you are bothering someone you are paying for a service, especially while on vacation, and on a Friday night! I hope the owners see these reviews and take corrective action. This person needs training in the hospitality industry and what it means to be a host.

I would not give even one star to this place. I shouldn't be saying this but it's quite a dirty place. People who manage this place just want to milk it until it ruins out. As soon as you enter the walkway, the long carpet is dirty and smelly. You have that musty smell all over the place including the rooms. The rooms are supposed to have essential oil samples and oil diffuser. We couldn't find them. The room was very smelly. You could hear the people from your neighboring room walking. The beds are the worst and squeaky, they will give you a backache the next morning. These people still think it is 1920s the way they have kept the place and operate it. Hated that we paid $209 for a night. Avoid at all costs. I am not sure how people have given good reviewes about this place in here. It is okay to have a dated appearance but it is not okay to collect such high room rate and provide such a bad experience.

Good location in a nice area of Seward. The rental was okay; however the hallway was pretty dirty and there was a used bath towel on the back of the bathroom door from a prior guest. Had noisy neighbors unfortunately…you can hear guests in the hall or other apartments. Communication with the host was lacking. I had to ask for the door code several times. The rental DID NOT include the free gym passes as stated on the website. I asked about the gym passes several times without receiving a response or a promise to get back to me. Unfortunately, the gym pass perk was one of the reasons I elected to book the rental. The website also lists a diffuser with essential oils in the apartment which was also not present. If you are specifically looking for a rental in this location and don’t care about much else, this may be an option for you.

The location is downtown Seward. Unfortunately the bakery it is attached to was closed for the season. The door to enter is to the right of the bakery entrance. You do have to walk up steep stairs, no elevator! Think twice about what luggage you want to bring. We had the rooms overlooking the street. Very quiet and with modern updates. I was in the small room above the stairs. You will need the provided extension cord to plug in any devices you may want during the night. It is an old building. If you can't find the light switch, it may be on the outside of the room. It is for the small child's room and bathroom. The kitchen brings back memories of Grandma's farm kitchen. The bathroom has modern updates. The main bedroom is cozy and welcoming. The coffee table is just the right size to do puzzles on in the evening. And the family dining table is perfect for any meal you may want to cook in the well stocked kitchen/ ware and appliances. The coat rack and bench were well used items in winter. I wish we knew more of the history of the building. It was very interesting. No blinds in the bathroom but, no one to see in. I did see an eagle soaring above the trees towards the mountains one morning. Worth it!
