We googled a restaurant to eat at on our way back from the Grand Canyon. We saw Rulu's and decided to try them. We saw they had steak and shrimp on the menu so we stopped. We had the corn chowder soup which was excellent and the fried shrimp and calamari for appetizers which were excellent. The ribeye steaks, not so good. For the price we paid, those were the toughest ribeye steaks I've ever had. The flavor was good, just too chewy and tough. I ate them because I was starving though. My wife left most of her steak for the same reasons.

I was really excited to eat at a place on the historic Route 66, but the whole experience fell a bit short of expectations. Rulu’s 66 Bar and Grill has a lot of potential, with its welcoming atmosphere and cozy, laid-back vibe, but there were a few areas where it didn’t quite deliver.

The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made us feel right at home. However, I couldn’t help but notice that there were only two people running the show—they were servers, hosts, and bartenders all at once. While they managed to keep up, it did seem like they had too much on their plates, which affected the overall flow.

As for the food, it was a mix of highs and lows. The ribs were the special of the day, but they didn’t impress me. While they were tender, the flavor was underwhelming. On the other hand, the homemade coleslaw was a standout. Its unique recipe set it apart from the usual coleslaw you find at most places.

The club sandwich was the star of the meal for me. It was fresh, perfectly stacked, and came with crispy, well-seasoned fries. The Caesar salad was another highlight, though it leaned a bit too acidic for my taste. The potato skins were a crowd-pleaser, loaded with cheese, bacon, and green onions, and served with a tangy dip that paired perfectly.

The setting itself added to the experience. It’s always exciting to dine on Route 66, and the casual atmosphere with TVs showing sports made it a fun spot for the whole family. However, the overall experience felt like it could have been better with more attention to detail and a less stretched-thin staff.

While not everything was perfect, Rulu’s has its charm. The homemade touches in the food and the friendly service make it worth a visit if you’re in the area. I’d come back for the sandwich and salad, but I’d love to see the place with a bit more support for the hardworking team.

Stopped by on our way back from Grand Canyon, and Rulu’s truly lived to our expectations! Great food, the rib eye steak was perfectly cooked and juicy, the portion of Nachos was massive and filled us all up - very tasty! Rulu’s Ice Tea is a great addition to your lunch and is very refreshing😎 Friendly and polite service, this place feels like home!👏🏼👍🏼

To start off the place is very clean and it’s eye catching, lights, and fireplace in the front. Then the service was amazing, our waitress was very sweet and recommended some good a$$ plates! The margarita was the special for the day and it was ssoooooooooo good! The food was amazing as well. I tried some of my kids Alfredo and it was honestly very good. I also tried my husbands plate which was the buffalo chicken over bacon Mac and cheese and that was even better! Mine was also very delicious, the tilapia with salad and mashed postatoes, but I prefer my husbands. Overall we all had a good experience, I highly recommend it!
Note: I have no idea how this place has 146 reviews, maybe they just opened? I didn’t ask. But very delicious!

Atmosphere and service were great!
Food was ok. The roll was microwaved and hard. My steak and potatoes came out lukewarm.
I ordered the ribeye medium rare.
The seasoning was great.
The ribeye meal was $35. But it was worth about $20. The cut of meat was a 1/4 gristle.
I would go back, but NOT ordering the ribeye.
