It was my 2nd time coming here for balayage. This time, Allison styled and cut my hair. She did exactly what I wanted and went above my expectations.

I've had many balayage before in different salons. I would definitely come back here and get it done with her. She was friendly yet professional.

Reservation is so easy, too. I called the day before, and they had an opening. Parking was easy to find. They have a parking lot. The price is comparable to the quality of service.

They offered me something to drink when I got there so I would say the receptionist was friendly.

The atmosphere was high-end, professional, and friendly.

I have been to Rod Sickler Salon twice and the first time I went, I was very pleased with my experience and how my hair turned out as I am naturally brunette transitioning to blonde. My stylist was Madison Sowers and the first time I went she had done a wonderful job of lightening my hair without any noticeable damage. Three months later, I scheduled another appointment to have my roots touched up as they had grown out. I tried to allow as much space in between each appointment to minimize the amount of damage on my hair. After my second appointment, I went home to be very disappointed as my mom had taken pictures of the back of my head where my roots/outgrowth was still very brown. I sent the pictures to Madison and she never responded until I followed up about my message several day later when she then said that I could come back in and she would look at it. When I came into the salon, she never apologized and made me feel as if I was a burden. She said to me that because my hair had grown out so much that she didn’t have time to do it all during my appointment which I completely understand and would have been fine with had she communicated that to me instead of charging me the full price knowing that she didn’t do my whole head. I am a college student and honestly felt very taken advantage of. After I left that time, my hair was extremely damaged and breaking off in random places all over my head. That was on June 23rd and since then I have done all that I know to do between oil, hair masks, and not washing it to try to restore the damage that was done but I still have not been able to do anything with my hair but wear it up in a bun because of the amount of damage that was done to it that day. I called to express my complaints and was never offered a refund, only to come in for a third time for someone else to look at it and to do a conditioning treatment. I should not have to go back somewhere three times to have healthy hair that I am happy with when paying the amount that I paid. I debated between just letting it go and leaving this review, but still months later this just doesn’t sit right with me and I don’t want anyone else to go through what I did. Very disappointing. Attached are the photos my mom took after my appointment that I sent to Madison of how my hair was left unfinished.

A bit underwhelmed with my first experience here. The first stylist was friendly, but unfortunately lacked attention to detail. I was in and out within 20 minutes for a haircut, wash, and partial blow dry. When I asked for a section to be cut further after we styled she said “if you don’t like it once you get home you can come back later” and sent me on my way. I feel like I was rushed in and out due to her having a double booking. Once I got home and styled it myself it looked terrible. Choppy, not blended, and very unflattering. However, I give 4 stars for the promptness to get me back in to have it fixed. I went back the next day and Michael did a phenomenal job considering what he had left to work with. He took his time, was genuinely kind and gave me the experience I would expect for the price I paid. Thank you Michael!

Unsatisfied with my cut. This was my first time at the salon. The stylist I went to did not shampoo my hair, despite me paying full cost that included a shampoo (according to their website). The stylist decided to cut my hair dry; I have always had my hair washed at previous salons. When I showered this morning, there were strands longer than others that they just missed. My bangs are not falling neatly because the stylist did not take into account my natural wave pattern when cutting. I paid $62 for a cut that was worth $30. I still tipped because she gave her time and did not notice all of the issues until washing on my own. I would not recommend going here.

I'm almost 60, I've had a lot of hair styles. Currently, I get a Brazilian Blowout and a cut about every 6 months. I've had it done by multiple people in town, but somehow, Madison at Rod Sickler is the absolute best. I don't know what she does, but she's fast, and it's always PERFECT. Right now I have the best hair style in my life thanks to her. I only have good hair days! Which, as we all know, can make or break your day. I will never go anywhere else. If she leaves Rod Sickler, I will hunt her down to do my hair. I just love the whole vibe of the salon, too.

Max is so nice and one of the best stylists I’ve ever been to in my life. I’m working on cosplaying Loki and she made my hair PERFECT couldn’t believe how spot on she was doing different sized curls for just an outstanding look!

I've had haircuts here several times over the past 1.5 years and it's time to find a new salon. The staff here is friendly and the prices are reasonable. The problem is I've had trouble finding someone here who knows how to cut curls. I've gone home a few times now pretty bummed about how my curls have been totally jacked up. This last time they got cut too short and against the curl pattern and it's going to take at least a few weeks to grow out properly. It's time to find someone in town who knows how to work with thick curly hair. So my fellow curly girls, I don't advise going to this place.

My daughter who is a college student visited the salon today for the first time and had an amazing experience. She loved Kacie who cut and styled her hair and gave her exactly what she wanted. She now could get a great haircut/style in Champaign and doesn’t have to travel to Chicago. She will be spreading the word in her sorority house. Thank you Kacie for making my daughter happy!
