Read this review! I’ve been going to this Roberto’s for 35+ years now. They have always had good food, the portions have always been relatively small but the prices have always been reasonable up until the end of 2024 when they replaced the parking lot, painted a few things and called it a remodel. The quality of the food has definitely declined along with the portions decreasing further in size while the prices have went through the roof! Prices up 50%, food 25% smaller (machaca burrito in pic $12.50) I’ve went from eating there five days a week to just one. I wish it were the same but it’s not. They used to be very busy all the time and now the decline of customers is notable. Probably 35% less traffic through the doors. This is not a negative review, just the facts of where Roberto’s is today. I hope they get back to quality food at an affordable price but for now, I will periodically eat there while I’m in search of somewhere better.

We asked for cheese in a carne asada Taco they gave me a hard taco shell I'm not at Taco Bell it cut my gums they forgot to put cheese that's happened before hurry my husband asked for limes and did not get those either I mean they could be out of them I don't know but they didn't say anything they're incredibly rude. I don't know why they replaced the menu other than they changed their prices which hadn't gone up in years but you're paying these people $20 an hour then they need to work for a living instead of being rude for a living. I have been going here since I was a little kid, and this is the worst meal I have ever gotten. I think I am going to take a break for a very long time. Shame on them

The new remodel was nothing more than a downgrade. The food somehow got worse and the prices got higher. Where did the money go because the interior of the building looks just a decrepit as it did before. The only nice thing about this restaurant is the compliment I received by a group of homeless people as I approached the front door. Yes, the homeless are more than welcome to hangout and sleep inside of the building on the tables. The best part of this restaurant is the discount you will receive after you catch 3 roaches off theirs counters. Fun game but please don’t mistaken the roaches for the staff.

Today I had to roll tacos, five of them with everything they were completely stale. The cheese that they grade is too thick it's they should grate their cheese smaller and with my plate it's like they just threw it all together and served it to me like that. They don't even care. Lady at the window had an attitude. The spicy salsa is not spicy at all. It's just darker

They for some reason only seem to be able to take cash at night past 12am. Sometimes they magically can take card but 90% of the times they can only do cash all of a sudden in the middle of the night. Or sometimes they just straight up don't answer you at the drive thru.

If it was possible to give this place a 0, I would've. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito through drive-thru. What I got was an abomination. A completely cracked tortilla with dried out refried beans and cold cheese. I thought I could get past the horrible looking tortilla, but after biting into it and tasting the beans and cheese, I had to throw the whole thing away. If this place messes up a beans and cheese burrito, what else are they going to ruin. Sad that this was served in San Diego of all places!

Specified NO CHEESE multiple times on my burrito. They added lots of cheese.
Not to mention how cold it was by the time I got to my job. (I work 4 min from there)
They only semi wrap it in paper.

Was introduced to Robertos by my ex about 30 years ago. Every time I am in Chula Vista it is a must visit. Always the rolled tacos. Always. Yummmmm
I never get enough salsa. Offer it as a side to buy for to go orders...
