Well, I was lucky.
I needed a hotel in Walnut Creek for Christmas and didn't really have much idea.
This was a great and lucky choice.
Near BART, very good service, a cracking gym and spa, and good food at a reasonable price.
Rooms were very good too. Clean, spacious and a comfortable bed.

Short business trip, only 2 nights, but this property was excellent. The Bay Club is complimentary to all hotel guests, so that was a pleasant surprise. The only downside is that it means that there is no 24hr fitness center - the Bay Club closes at 8pm, if I recall correctly.

Being Platinum, my wife and I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast buffet, which was exceptionally priced for what it provided, even if we had to pay. There is no Concierge/M Club Lounge, so the breakfast is from the on property restaurant - which, tbh, is a plus when it comes to breakfast quality. I enjoy the 24/7 coffee and snacks available when there is an M Lounge, but the breakfast is never as good as a full/proper restaurant.

As I have come to expect, service was excellent. Staff are pleasant and helpful. Parking is less than ideal, with narrow spaces, but not the worst. Definitely better than mandatory valet like other nearby hotels.

The room was spacious and clean, emphasis on spacious. I think it was meant for the ability to practice yoga or calisthenics, as the bathroom (which was very nice) had hand weights and a mat. Speaking of the bathroom, it has been a while since I visited a hotel property with the tiny bottles of shampoo/conditioner/lotion that this one had. Most have wall mounted pump bottles, nowadays.

Walnut Creek, in general, is a great location. Tons of food options, some shopping and entertainment options, and bay area weather. Solid.

the rooms are nice but there is no full length mirror in the room. no mirrors in the room at all. only mirror is the one above the sink in the bathroom. not sure why because the walls are all bare so there is plenty of room to put a mirror on the walls or closet. other than that the bed is super comfy and the bathroom is nice. big modern sports complex attached with huge gym, pool, spa, pilates, spinning, basketball, sauna/steam room and so much more!

Rooms: A/C was very noisy and kept me up during my three nights stay at this location. The furniture was broken and was being held up by another table. The carpet was soiled and scuffs and marks on the wall. This location will need some updates and need it immediately. Besides the A/C unit being noisy, the humming and vibrating sound in the room made it very uncomfortable. The front desk did not offer to move me to another room, and simply noted my concern in their system. This is not what I expected from this brand. Simply, very disappointed.

Service: It was average.

Location: It's a good location and its close to the freeway.

Other area to consider:

Pool - it's shared with Bay Club and mornings are usually filled with swimming classes.

Restaurant - Breakfast has a limited menu but should suffice. There is a "grab & go" with plenty of choices. You are near Downtown Walnut Creek, so have access to many restaurants.

Bar: Staff were friendly, drinks were good. Kudos to the staff. Bar itself sits about 5-6 guests, there are several tables, and an outdoor space.

I'm not sure where all these positive reviews are from. Toilet doesn't flush, fridge stays luke warm, the open balcony allows noise to be amplified into your room, the door allows all people in the hall to hear me and me them, I would call the front desk but no one answers the front desk phone.
The hotel food is waaaay overpriced, for the love of God dont eat in the hotel "restaurant".
The floors are sticky and not cleaned, no parking and zero courtesy from the front staff.

This is a great hotel! I travel a lot and do not write a lot of reviews, but felt compelled to regarding this property. Great staff! Judith at the front desk was amazing as were a few others. Room was spacious, bathroom large and bed was comfortable! Access to the health club is a big coup if you work out or swim as those facilities are also fantastic! Looking forward to future stays for work this weekend and next!

We have family in Walnut Creek/Concord and this hotel has been a convenient location when we visit. Never again! Over the past few years, we've noticed changes in quality at the hotel. And this past visit is no different. Only it is much worse: One working elevator in the entire hotel; restaurant Sunday buffet was cold and unattended by staff; front desk staff were incompetent when we checked it and failed to recognize us (three times) when we returned; the room was filthy; on the day we were to check out housekeeping knocked on the door at 7:00 a.m. to "clean" our room, which they had not done for our entire stay; music at night from ground floor was so loud (until past midnight) that sleep was impossible; the entire lobby has a shabby, worn-out look.||||We cannot say that we contracted COVID-19 at this hotel, but we had our first symptoms 48 hours after departure for home.||||We will NEVER stay at this horrible hotel again, and and strongly urge anyone considering staying there to reconsider and look for other options as we will be doing in the future. .

We just spent several nights at the Walnut Creek Renaissance Hotel. Generally, we had an excellent stay. Alejandro at the front desk was friendly and helpful when we checked in. We were told that the rooms will be updated in 2025; meanwhile, our room was more than adequate. It was spacious, clean and very quiet at night, in spite of the proximity to Bart trains. The curtain/shades work well; we slept in a couple of days.||Our carpeting was fine.||We were told that if we wanted a full housekeeping visit, we should call the desk one day before. That was cool with us, as we were still able to exchange towels, get TP as needed. We keep our room neat; we are happier without daily housekeeping intrusion. ||The access to the fabulous gym is a big plus. ||Other members of the staff were very focused on guest satisfaction. For example, we had a reservation issue that we had caused ourselves--(not their fault), and the front desk ran it by the manager right away. It was resolved to our liking within about two minutes. We appreciate their understanding. It is a huge hotel, but it is run by real humans.||I would absolutely choose that hotel again.||Just so you know that I was an impartial judge of my stay, I submit two recommendations: I would get thicker towels, especially since so many guests do not opt for daily housekeeping, and I would get more substantial pillows. Those changes can easily be made now--before renovation.
