Always bring a black light and a powerful anti-bacterial, multi-anti-viral, anti-fungicide, spray like cavicide, or something similar to a hospital/vet cleaner. The rooms are small, dirty, damaged from fights, and infested with bugs, as you can see in the pictures. Be careful. The rooms have broken fixtures and appliances. The hairdryer literally caught on fire when my daughter tried to dry her hair. I would keep your pocket knife or pepper spray in your hand, especially females. This is a high-traffic open sky layout or a drive-up to the rooms door type of style hotel with the wrong type of people for a young family majority women to be alone. Loud music all night long, and the beautiful aroma of medical cannabis fills the air around the entire hotel. the rooms smell musky with their walls covered with what looks like some sort of sticky fluid splattered all over and they are filled with cockroaches and several holes from the previous guest from either a head or fist going through it. If none of that doesn't bother you, then you're Gucci.
There's a homeless tent village in the next-door field (I don't judge you have to survive!) and on the other side you have a highway and in front is a beautiful broken-up road filled with potholes, needles, and broken dreams.

In all honesty, it was a nice room for the price. They are remodeling and painting updating rooms. Every staff member was friendly and willing to help. All in all would definitely stay here again!

They tried to scam me and left me stranded! I made my reservation with them a few days in advance for 7/20/24. I was driving out to Chicago from St. Louis. Randomly at around 3 am that morning the hotel attempted to charge my card! I’ve never had a hotel attempt to charge prior to my stay? Thankfully my card was locked but then I received an email a few hours later that my reservation had been canceled by the hotel! I reached out to Red Roof inn and they assured me that I could speak with someone at the desk when they actually opened to have this matter resolved. A blatant lie, I called the hotel and the front desk staff proceeded to tell me that at this location it’s their policy to charge you the morning of and they don’t have my room available anymore! How can you charge someone for a room they wouldn’t even be able to check into yet? Heck we weren’t even in Chicago yet! I’m almost 30 years old and I’ve never once had a hotel attempt a charge on my card anytime other than booking and check-in (unless you had fees after checking out of course). They were trying to steal from me and couldn’t! Because of them I had to stay with my two preschool aged daughters at the Kings inn. It was terrible, drug addicts were outside from the minute we arrived in the parking lot at 11 something in the morning! I’ll never put my vacation in red roof inns hands again!!

If there was a 0 star option I would.
Soon as I got the the room, flicked the light on and roaches scattered, slimy disgusting floor, bathroom light didn’t work, broken fixtures everywhere, stank of weed, painted by a blind man obviously (not that that was a big issue given everything else). Fairly sure there was poorly covered up gun shots in the wall.
Not even an hour later I left and still had to pay for the room for a night.
DO NOT book here it’s a very sketchy location too.
Upon following up my refund for the remaining nights of my stay I had to call 4 times before the phone was finally picked up. Awful experience and will never book a red roof again. I’m very relaxed when it comes to cheap stays but this is the worst hotel I’ve ever seen.

I booked a room and was due to pay upon arrival. When i get there mind you, after calling to confirm my booking and availability. The front desk associate basically told me they gave my reserved room to someone else because i was late. AFTER I CALLED AND NOTIFIED THAT BE LATE BECAUSE IM STILL ON THE TRAIN COMING FROM OUT OF STATE. COULD HAVE SAID LIKE " HEY NO WE HAVE A TARDY POLICY, FIRST COME FIRST SERVE". NOPE THEY WERE MORE LIKE " OH OKAY WE SEE THE BOOKING AND CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU SOON, SAFE TRAVELS" No way, first time for me with red roof and will be the last!

I have stayed numerous times at the Red Roof Joliet location. I've read some of the reviews and just don't see it... All of the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The housekeepers make sure to get you anything you may need; fresh towels, new sheets, etc. I've never had a bug issue and the rooms are always clean. The people that work in the front office are friendly and easy to talk to as well. I recommend staying here to anyone that asks.

DO N'T STAY HERE!!! The room was despicable. Not clean, smelled like some awful air freshener (which I was allergic to) in between the smell of weed, broken lamp shades, only one available plug worked. The manager is rude and doesn't seem interested in addressing problems. I enclosed some pictures. Do yourself a favor, don't go there! STAY AWAY LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT! It just might.

Stayed here for four nights from Dec 29-Jan 1 when I didn't have anywhere else to go. Room and beds were nice and fridge and microwave worked well. Loved just having the day to myself, a nice change of pace from staying in a homeless shelter (which I then had to return back to). Some complaints were that I spotted I believe two roaches, the toilet just kept flushing constantly and I couldn't get it to stop, and sometimes the door would open on its own in the middle of the night (was bolted, thankfully). Also the outlets had kinda a weak grip but ultimately my chargers still worked and the free wifi was a nice touch too. Would recommend for a nice budget hotel.
