Staff was friendly, Rooms were clean and price was reasonable. Our room was decent size. Nothing to complain about. We had left my friend’s wallet in the room and housekeeping staff turned it in for us. We were grateful that they had located it and were honest enough to turn it in.

It was 2am, 0 degrees and blowing snow, we needed a place to crash that would allow our dog. We were pleasantly surprised at how comfy the bed was. They were transparent about price and pet policy unlike a bunch of other hotels I called. Their own website calls them a cheap hotel. So I fully expected dingy furniture, cheap towels and powdered creamer with the lobby coffee. However clean is clean. You can be on a budget and still be clean. They get 2 stars for cleanliness. Someone else’s pubes in the tub, dirty floors and door knobs, it smelled musty and gross. If I ever stay at one again I will bring disinfectant wipes and clean the bathroom and doorknobs. Needless to say we didn’t take our shoes off until we got into bed. We were grateful for a convenient place to stay with our dog that’s affordable, but don’t think we’d seek a red roof out in the future unless absolutely needed.

I booked a room and found I booked a king bed rather than two beds I intended to. I called them and asked to correct it immediately. They told me the room will be more expensive. I accepted it.

However, when I arrived and checked in, I was told that there is not only a room charge adjustment, but also a 20.00$ room change fee. The charge is not expected, especially none of the commutation talked about it - phone call or emails.

The room is clean.

The customer service was fine, and access to the room was fine. The room did not appear to be dirty, except for an awful, overwhelming cat smell. Besides being overcome with this stench, there was cat hair in the bed. Management was aware of the odor because of an empty/used air freshener plugged into the wall. We needed a cheap place to stay, so we got it. I would not recommend staying here.

For the price the room was clean and well kept!
The staff checked to make sure we were good to go and happy with the room.
Lots of food options close by within walking distance.

Was given a dirty room and denied a room change by the front office. Not only were there dirt/stains on the comforter, the sheets had nasty stains and hair on the pillowcases. I relayed the state of the room to the front desk and I requested housekeeping or a room change. Instead I was brought a clean comforter (not sheets or pillowcases, I had to go back 2 individual times to get clean sheets and pillowcases), and had to strip and remake the bed myself. At this point I discovered the bed had several cigarette burns, despite being a no smoking room, and then the front office tried to tell me I had caused the state of the room. I had literally only been checked in for 5 minutes at this point there was no way I dirtied the comforter, stained the sheets, got hair (which was not my color or type) all over the bed, and burned cigarette holes before remaking the bed and went back to the office all in under 5 minutes. They clearly had just remade the bed with dirty sheets of whoever slept there before me and tried to blame me for it. I was denied a room change at every point although the hotel was by no means fully booked, and could not even shower. The drain for the shower was so clogged it caused the tub to fill with water even with the drain up all the way, even the toilet was unflushed, and the front desk staff still continued to insist everything in the room was my fault and I could not change my room. A clean bed and a working shower is what I consider to be the bare minimum from a hotel. I could even have excused the rudeness and implications from the front desk had she just changed my room, but it took hours of complaints and arguing to even be offered a room change. I stayed in this hotel because I had previously stayed in another red roof that was a great experience and I assumed this one would be the same. However, as I clearly found out, not all red roof inns are created equal. If you like clean sheets and working showers, I would not recommend staying at this red roof.

Do yourself a favor, read previous reviews and try to find other accommodations. Booked a room during football season in October. Only place I could find with a one night minimum was RRI. Decent rate, but once arrived I realized why it was the cheapest, one night stay hotel in town. My mistake and should have researched better on this one.

The bedding had long black hairs on it, was ripped and stained. So gross. There was also long blacks hairs on the towels and floor. The towels were rags - like I would use them to clean my house. The pillows were like thin boards. So uncomfortable. Our TV didn’t work. The entrance to our building smelled like gas and seemed very unsafe and when we told the front desk they didn’t seem bothered and challenged us to call the fire department - which we did because it was a huge issue. You shouldn’t smell a potent gas smell on the way to your hotel room. ||When we asked to talk to the manager we were told they weren’t available. Convenient. Hiding in the back. The only good thing I can say is that they changed the sheets - but we shouldn’t have had to ask. ||I hope they enjoyed their two seconds of supply/demand power - which is Dad’s weekend at the University of Illinois. Now this hotel can go back to being a crappy roadside motel that no one will ever stay at! ||Be warned! No matter how cheap - this place is not good!
