The house shows its age as it goes back to the 1890s. The house shows its use over the years. The house still has a wonderful, historic look. The house and our room were clean. Our room worked. There was a window AC unit that hummed, but my family has no problems sleeping with noises like that. The bathroom was good. You have to step into a vintage tub to use the shower. The shower was refreshing. Breakfast was spot on! You can walk to Main Street. The best part was the host. Van is a very friendly, generous, hospitable man. He shared so much about his life and asked about ours. He was very genuine. We could have talked for hours, but he knew we wanted to tour Galena and told us all of the things to see and do.

Beautiful Victorian Home. We stayed for one night and enjoyed it immensely! Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Definitely within walking distance to scenic downtown. But the one thing that sets this B&B apart from the others is the Owner, Van. He is a super person who goes way out of his way to make sure you have a wonderful experience. He has a heart of gold. We will be back for sure!

I’ve stayed in a few b&b’s throughout my life and this is the first time I’ve ever immensely enjoyed it. Van is a wonderful host. Very knowledgeable, personable and an amazing chef. He set the mood instantly when we arrived. He is very accommodating and friendly. He made my pregnant wife a different meal because of dietary restrictions. He made everything smooth and in the morning was able to facilitate a great conversation with us and the other guests. Can’t wait to be back again after the baby is born!

Wife and I visited this location with a couple of other couples. Room that we had was a little small, but it was both cozy and comfortable. The house itself was in good repair and kept clean. I enjoy old architecture, so it was especially fun to stay in an older house than a newer and somewhat sterile motel. Breakfast and company provided each morning, which was also a nice touch. ||||Location is just across the river from downtown Galena, so were able to walk out the door and across the bridge to do some shopping and dining. Would recommend and likely to stay here again when we visit Galena for a weekend.

This charming B&B is the best kept secret in Galena! Van is an amazing host and a great cook. He serves a gourmet breakfast that is served promptly at 8:30 each morning. You will be so full you will not finish the meal nor eat the rest of the day! He was able to provide suggestions on restaurants and things to do in the area. Van makes the house feel as if it is just as much yours as his and is possibly the kindest man on the planet.

A really excellent place. Original to late 1800s, it's a step back in time, with all the comfort of modern day. Host is very eager to see that your stay is happy, and the breakfast is excellent. All the furniture is antique, but comfortable. According to the host, the entire house is original, and was the first house in Galena with modern conveniences when built. It's still an outstanding place. You'll love it.

Stayed at this Guest House as other hotels were booked-so glad we did!! We met another couple here and could not have asked for a more pleasant and comfortable stay! ||Van, the owner was so fun and entertaining and even joined us for a glass of wine in the wonderful, relaxing screened in porch before we left for dinner! He made us feel as if it was our house and he was so interesting to talk to!||The rooms were nice, clean and comfortable and there was a mini refrigerator in hall with bottles of water and Keurig machine whenever you felt like a cup of coffee. (He also had a pot in the morning and all the fixings for tea in the hallway)||It was great to have a gathering place to visit for the four of us to and since there are only 3 rooms he rents, it was a great small venue!||We will definitely be back-loved Van and thanks for a great stay! (No 2 night minimum, can walk downtown too!)

Stayed here Oct 6 , 2018. My wife and I were met at the door by Van. He is one of the nicest men my wife and I have had the pleasure to meet. He is the new owner in his 4th month as owner operator who lives on the 3rd floor. The first floor has a library, dining room and parlor all of which are a step into the past that are truly beautiful. the 4 rooms are upstairs and they are all so nice. We had a wonderful tour of all rooms before we checked out. The house was built in 1891 and is like a trip to a museum. Wonderful pieces of the past with all the needs of the present met. The breakfast is at 8:30 and van is a wonderful chef. Truly a great time at this place.
