This is the best meal I've ever had in Central Illinois! Everything we ate, from the crab dip to the blackened catfish with polenta to the short rib pappardelle to the chocolate cheesecake, was phenomenal! After living in Chicago, NY, and Houston, all of which are fantastic food cities, and being a foodie myself who loves cooking, this place can hold its own against almost anywhere.

Sorry no pictures! I forgot to take pictures the food was AMAZING! I had the French Onion soup, probably one of the best I have had. Super flavorful, I got the cup, I should have gotten the bowl. šŸ˜‰. Then I had the roasted beet salad with grilled chicken. Yes I ate the whole thing, It had goat cheese and toasted bread crumbs. Yes I had to have the Lemon Dream bar as dessert.
The service was great, the staff answered all my questions. Love this place, great decor and awesome bar! 5 stars all around.

Best Mac & Cheese we've ever had, and the best cheeseburger in town without a doubt. The fruity pebble dessert was not very good though.
They prefer you to have reservations - but if you don't try to get there closer to opening to make sure you get a table.

Always love the Proud Richard's experience. Friendly staff, creative drink menu, and the food is always top notch! Our most recent visit was the kick-off of their newest menu. We had the steamed mussels (a great flavor combination with the apples) and the brussels sprouts for appetizers, sampled the butternut squash soup, and enjoyed the spicy shrimp linguine and pork chop for our entrees. Every course was packed with seasonal and warm flavors. Just what we needed for a chilly fall evening. I tried one their Mighty Kind CBD mock-tails and the flavor pairing to compliment the seltzer base was out of this world and went great with my meal. Highly recommend, Chef Joe has carefully curated menus for each season.

We always have a great time at Proud Richard’s! They’ve launched a new spring menu, as always, with ingredients from local farms. We enjoyed the chicken drumsticks entree. It was a perfect presentation and the chicken and mashed potatoes were to die for! Highly recommend this restaurant located in a restored train depot built in the early 1900s! One of Jacksonvilleā€˜s finest!

Truly incredible, this place. Built in a former train station, the ambience is charming, classy, and unique. Plus the burger is truly out of this world. I’ve had my fair share of burgers, of all types of quality, and this is genuinely one of the best. Yes, actually. Please give this place a try and do yourself a favor and get that burger!

Had the place not had a stinch (close to raw sewage is the best way I can describe it) I would've given a 5 star review. This odor hit me as soon as I hit the door all though it wasn't pungent like other times I've smelled raw sewage the smell never left, it stayed the same smell the entire time we were there. Had we not driven over an hour to come check this place we would've probably went somewhere else. According to all the reviews and looking over the prices I assumed I wouldn't have to worry about dealing with a foul odor the entire dining experience but I was wrong. I expected Richard to come by and apologize for the odor due to some issue they were trying to fix due to it being an older building but he did not and no one came to ask if our meal was cooked correctly it or if tasted well, nothing like that and we literally right next to the kitchen door. The waiter did ask us if we needed a box though lol so I guess technically she did check on us. The food was delicious and that's putting it lightly but the stinch and the service were not what I would expect from an establishment that's as proud of their prices as Richard's was. Ya I could've said something to my waiter but she was already hard enough to catch her to get us to go boxes and she didn't seem too concerned about whether my mother's or my experience was good or not I think she just wanted us out of her booth so she could have the opportunity to get more tips. I understand wanting to get more tips but there has to be a good reason to get tips and I didn't see many good reasons to give her much of a tip. I may try this place again in a month just because the food was amazing.

2nd time here,

First time I had 3 apps on buy one get one half off on a Thursday, made 2 meals out of it. Thanks Mac and cheese, it was a large serving

This time—Joes smash burger prompted me to write this review. Ate it all without saying anything but smile.

The only complaint is that Trevor at the bar needs more tattoos. If you’re lucky enough you might be able buy thyme on a glass from him.

Lastly, Brenda the hostess is phenomenal
