On the way to Yellowstone. Not easy to find a restaurant open in Cody, WY, on a Monday night. Wanted to try a bison burger, having heard so much about how tasty bison is. This place really nailed it. The decor is as expected. Wood everywhere, metal ceiling, lots of old west photos and taxidermy. We were a little early for our reservation (you should make one) so we sat at the bar for a bit, but were seated in just a few minutes. The bison burgers were delicious. Perfectly cooked, juicy, and our sides were very good as well. Service was prompt and attentive right up until we left. All good at Proud Cut Saloon.

Great atmosphere for a delicious burger. Bartender did a wonderful job on drinks, and they have a good variety of alcohol to choose from. The fried green tomatoes are to die for! The Rodeo burger comes with 2 onion rings that are bigger than the burger itself. Sweet potato fries are ok. Highly recommended for a hearty meal with a refreshing drink.

Stopped by while in the area for work. The South Dakotan behind the bar was very friendly and attentive! I wasn’t in a hurry but my rodeo burger came quick and as ordered. Only disappointment was spending more elsewhere before trying this gem! My new go to while in town.

The restaurant looks cool when you walk in. They seat you at your table with no silverware or napkins. We ordered our meals. Still no silverware. My very small salad is delivered and the server turned and left quickly. Waited about 3 to 5 minutes for some one to pass by. Got attention and she got our silverware. My wife's meal was good, but my rib eye stake cooked to medium was very hard to cutand took alot chewing to get it down. Maybe ate half of it. If I lived here I would be hard pressed to go back. I lost out on a 28 dollar meal. Gave the waitress only 18% tip. Normally if the service is average or better I go with 25%.

We walked in at 5:45 PM on Sunday and apparently needed a reservation. What? 45 min wait, but we were able to score seats at the bar 😁. Had an amazing steak salad cooked absolutely to perfection. The staff was really hustling and still friendly!

Ordered French onion soup to go as I was sick and it sounded good. Served in styrofoam container. There was literally a lump of cheese at the bottom of the container. It was the worst soup I’ve ever had. I doctored it up at home but shouldn’t have to do that. I called the manager and was told there isn’t a way to serve this (broil) in a styrofoam container so I question why it is offered to go or not served in a container like aluminum that you can broil. She did apologize but there was no offer to make it right. I realize that it is just soup but I have no plans to eat here again. It’s super frustrating to be a local and not get a good product or service! I’m adding to this because after I posted. I read through out reviews..: some great and some not so great. I didn’t see a single reply to a review which makes me think that reviews are not valued. I’m used to getting a reply from a supervisor, manager, owner for leaving any review. This has been a truly frustrating experience and I can see that others had similar experiences with no reply. 🙁

We loved everything about this place. The food we had was the best we had in our entire trip from Jackson Hole through Yellowstone to Cody. The prime rib was cooked perfectly, the onion rings and the four cheese Mac n Cheese were amazing and the bread pudding dessert that we thought we were too full to eat was not to be missed! We have one more day in Cody and we will be back. We met the owner and it turns out he has ties to Maryland and WV where we currently live. It’s a small world. Don’t miss this place. It has a great atmosphere, friendly staff and wonderful food!

A great little restaurant on the main strip. You can sit at with the tables or at the bar. As a solo traveler I chose the bar and was so glad that I did! Jesse was running the bar that night and was an absolute pleasure to chat with. Besides providing a great detailed breakdown of the menu and recommendations on what to have, she also offered free tourist advice on the best bars and on the surrounding area. To be fair, the food was so good I came back three nights in a row!
The streak is excellent. The Thai salad also was superb. I would also strongly recommend the cobbler if they have it on the menu.
I will certainly be back next time I am in town!
