I came through for work and stayed 2 nights.

I travel for work at least 30 weeks a year.

To say this is the absolute best hotel I've stayed at is an understatement. I've stayed at Hilton, Hyatt, and high-end private owned hotels. Nothing compares to The Principal.

The beds are heavenly. The bathrooms are spacious and beyond clean. The staff were almost annoyingly nice.

If this place was in a larger city, they could charge double and they'd be booked year round.

We rented the 2-bedroom suite for 4 adults and 3 toddlers. It was a lovely stay and surpassed our expectations, and here is what made our stay so pleasant: 1. This is not a suite, it's an apartment. The fully- appointed kitchen made a huge difference to meet the needs of our little ones. 2. The two bedrooms were roomy, had great closet and storage space, and the king-size beds were very comfortable and looked and felt luxurious with the linens. 3. There is only one bathroom, but it was large and had plenty of towels and toiletries available. 4. Check-in was quick and easy and staff members were welcoming. 5. Parking was plentiful and near our suite. We will definitely stay at Principal Hotel again when we come to Columbia to visit family! We look forward to experiencing all your other amenities!

Decided to try The Principal vs hotel chain. Glad I did. Very nice place in downtown Columbia. Room was standard King. Plenty of space for me. Warmly greeted when I walked in. Nice and new. Very clean. Graphite restaurant is a bonus offering breakfast and dinner. Will stay again. Highly recommend for business or pleasure.

Trendy new hotel in a great spot. We were in town for a wedding and was able to check in early. K cup maker in the room, great shower, comfy bed, and fridge in the room. The AC at first didn't seem like we could turn it down and room was stuffy when we first checked in but it cooled quickly. The room needs a full size mirror and some WD 40 on the hinges of the bathroom door but we would definitely stay here again. Great little Cafe restaurant next door called The Abbey.

This hotel location is great for weddings at the Abby right next door. The hotel design is cute and the information on the history of the building and land is well presented. The hotel website states there is entertainment and recreation- nothing is opened or near completion. The site does state the bar and restaurant is coming soon- that has been the same since June 2024. When will all the amenities be opened? Did the room rate I paid reflect current state and the prices will increase when everything is completed? I enjoyed being close to the wedding venue and walkability to other local establishments.

Great room with simple decoration, tall ceilings, and nice bathroom. Bed and linens were comfortable. Great location with everything a short distance away. Only complaints are there was no luggage caddy and room keeping didn't show up when they were supposed to, but minor details for a new property. All in all a comfortable, relaxing stay. Will be back.

My wife and I had a staycation last weekend and decided to spend the night here. We loved this hotel. The room was pretty large, the bed was comfortable, and the amenities were very nice. We'd recommend staying here if you're in the area!

Our new favorite place to stay! The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the location is perfect, and the staff have gone above and beyond to make our stay great. The school theme and all the small details are amazing as well. They did a great job and we will definitely be back!
