The best, most underrated camp spot in all of arizona.

It’s underrated and the best because no one goes out here.

I’m a big camping person, as you can see of all my reviews of camp grounds. I experience alot of them.

This campground in specific, has my heart, and I’ll explain why.

When people go camping, the one thing they’re after is peace. Quiet. Relaxation. A connection with nature you do not get in the city. The birds, the wind through the trees, everything about camping is tied to the experience you get from being out in nature.

With that being said, the reason this campground exceeds all others is simple.

No one goes out here.

I’ve come to find that other people are what makes camping experiences sub par and undesirable. It’s other people.

And because there were no people out at this spot, there was also no music, specifically mariachi music blasting as loud as it can go.

This is also one of the reasons that made this camping trip absolutely incredible.

I’ve said it before in many reviews, and I will say it again. If you are a person, or a part of a family that blasts your mariachi music at full volume while you’re out camping, you need to stay the hell away from campgrounds and that is not a request.

If you would like to blast your mariachi music at full volume, do it in your own home, or better yet take your camping gear three hours south and do it in your own country. Because I’m telling you right now, it’s unwelcome here and nobody enjoys listening to it except you and the people you’re with.

This campground exceeds all others. There are about 13 sites I believe. Sites 1–3 are quite easy to find. 1 is small, so is 3. 2 is cool and a bit bigger. could not find sites 4 and 5. Sites 6, 7, 8, and 9 are good and a good size. Site 11 is small but cool and down in the trees. Couldn’t find sites 10 or 12. And last but not least, site number 13, the “queens landing” spot.

I called it queens landing spot because it’s by far the best spot in this entire campground. This is the biggest spot, and The spot for the tent is back in the trees, the spot is so perfect that your tent gets 12 hours of shade from sunrise to sundown, you never ever get hit with hot tent. The tent site is about 5 feet from the creek. It was dry when I went, but still there. You have a picnic table, you have two fire pits, and the vault toilets are just 20 feet away right around the trees.

This spot is perfect for many reasons. Trees perfectly placed to use a hammock, with shade shade and more shade! Trees everywhere.

I came to my camping trip and plan to only stay two nights, and ended up staying three because I was so comfortable and had everything I needed .

The only thing about this campsite is you will see Bears. Black bears roam these hills and woods. I had a black bear stroll right through my camp when I was laying down in my tent. He was peaceful, probably just looking for food. But he did stroll right through sniff around a bit and then leave.

Because of this, there is a food storage container permanently out at this campsite that is bear proof and animal proof. This thing really Puts your mind at ease…
My 1st and 2nd night here I did not use the container. My 2nd night i believe a raccoon tried to get into my food. The 3rd day is when I saw the bear, and upon the 3rd night I wasn’t taking anymore chances. I used the container and am glad I did .

I suspected there was a bear that came through my camp middle of the night looking for food again, I didn’t see this one tho, just heard him. If it wasn’t there, he came through looking for food and was highly disappointed because I use the food container.

Anyway, this review is way to long, but this camp site is the gem of all gems. I claim spot #13. If I come out to this campground, I find you in my spot, I’ll fight you. Be warned.?

Nice dry camping with pit toilets. The forest service is letting ranchers run cattle in the camp grounds (this sucks).

Beautiful campgrounds hidden among tall pines, with tables, toilets, fire rings, and bear-resistant food boxes (Toll Gate is the best, imo). Pinal Creek runs through the area and near campsites. Not too far from town, and jets like to fly over, but usually after 8:30am. Clean & well-stocked toilets, and some tables are a bit further walk from parking than others

Hate to give any campground 5 stars because I lose my spot. This campground is a jewel. Wonderful drive from Phoenix through Globe-Miami and hidden in a small pocket of the southern Tonto Forest is this spot. This will definitely be on my list to return.

This place is so clean, people are taking care of it for sure. I was ready to make carne asada ((no charcoal or wood)) ? people camping in the same area were so nice with us they had an extra propane stove "THANK YOU SO MUCH" you saved me a 35 minutes drive to get fast food. Great place to relax for camping or hiking. More than 5 stars for sure.

I'm glad to have had such an amazing experience. I was up there a week, perfect weather, great hiking but my rear tire came off while I was exploring but I got help the next day.
