Pete’s Fresh Market in Matteson has a decent selection of bourbon and whiskey, especially for a grocery store. While they don’t seem to carry allocated bottles, they do have a variety of solid daily drinkers and mixer-level bourbons at reasonable prices. Brands like Woodford Reserve, Knob Creek, Uncle Nearest, and Hard Truth are available, making it a convenient stop if you’re already shopping for groceries.

The liquor section is separate and enclosed, so you have to purchase alcohol within that area. While it’s not a go-to spot for serious bourbon hunters, it’s always worth checking while you’re there—you might find a bottle or two worth picking up!

Pete's is a bit pricey, but it's worth every dollar spent. They have the best fruits, vegetables, and nuts than any other store around. The salad bar is outstanding, and you will always find something special there.

Heyyyyyy everything you want, need and more the produce section is off the chain. During the holidays and don't have or run out on something you can bet your last dollar they are going to have what you need. For New years day I always cook black eyed peas. I had stop some of the other local grocery stores to get a pack at the last minute none to be found on the shelves. I stopped my Pete's they had a whole display of the peas ready and waiting for the last minute shopper. I love this store and don't forget about the hot and cold bar of food big selection along with the soup bar a big thumbs up for and a whole lot if high fives!!!👍🏾🖐🏾👏🏽

The food at the hot bar can be expensive compared to other grocery stores (expect it to be over $20 for a container) but the variety is huge and it's worth it, depending on what you get. As for the rest of the store, it's enormous and always packed. The fruits and vegetables are the freshest you can find. I appreciate the plethora of options here.

This was my first time in Pete's and I was impressed as I approached the roundabout door system. The fresh juice bar greeted me at the door alongside a beautiful display of produce. The employees were so friendly and the restrooms were spotless. The hot food bar knocked me off my feet becaise not only was the selection neat and plentiful, the assistance was there when needed. I appreceiate that they are minority owned and started right in Chicago back in the 70's. They hire within the communities they serve and has a space for everyone. I was shocked to see a bar and slot room. Compared to Mariano's their Popcorn Bar is higher. Overall, they still earned 5 stars! Thank you for an amazing experience!

I bought three packs of Salmon at 7.98 a pack, attempted to cook it the next day and noticed that the fish was spoiled. I put it in the freezer and I said to myself that when I go back grocery shopping I'll return the fish for an exchange. However, Pete's Fresh Market wouldn't exchange or refund the money. They said I should have brought it back the next day, As a mother and a nurse my life doesn't work that way, I grocery shop every 2 weeks. I'M DISAPPOINTED WITH PETE'S FRESH MARKET.
FRESH MY ASS! CHECK YOUR MEAT BEFORE LEAVING THE STORE. SEE IF THEY LIKE THAT!

If you need produce or fancy cheese, Pete's is the place to go. They have tonnes of produce I couldn't identify on a bet. It's all fresh and good.

(I have an African Grey parrot who's *extremely* picky re: her fruits & veggies. We always get her food here, and she rarely turns her beak up at their stuff.)

They have pretty much everything you could want here, but the prices on "regular" stuff - chips, canned stuff, dairy - tend to be on the high side. So I shop for the bird and get stuff from the deli here, but I do my general shopping elsewhere.

So it's good for some stuff, but I wouldn't recommend doing your everyday shopping here.
