I visited in Sept. 2023 for 3 nights and I can’t say enough about how hospitable everyone was. We were able to access the park quickly and easily each day. The cabins are rustic and charming. The restaurant and gift shop in the lodge were fun to explore and the food was very good. I’m wishing I was back there right now! And yes the buffalo was grazing next to the driveway one afternoon!

Pahaska Tepee: A Hidden Gem Near Yellowstone

On our way out of Yellowstone National Park one crisp fall morning, we came across Pahaska Tepee, a strikingly beautiful building just off the road. Drawn in by its charming exterior and the promise of breakfast, we expected the typical overpriced meal you often find near such popular destinations. But from the moment we stepped inside, the experience far exceeded our expectations.

The dining room is something straight out of a storybook—rustic and warm, complete with a wood-burning fireplace that was crackling away, providing the perfect cozy atmosphere for the chilly morning. The inviting ambiance was matched by the scenic views right outside the windows, offering a serene start to the day.

What truly surprised us was the price of breakfast. Despite its prime location and beautiful setting, the cost was no more—and possibly even less—than what we would pay back home in Minnesota. The food itself was excellent, cooked to perfection, and served with a genuine smile. The service was quick and friendly, giving the whole experience a laid-back, welcoming vibe that’s hard to find at most tourist stops.

After our meal, we wandered through the gift shop, which was filled with unique items, making it a great place to pick up a few mementos. While we didn’t stay overnight, we noticed they offer lodging. Though we didn't get to experience it firsthand as we were Traveling in our Mini-T Campervan and Camping in the Yellowstone National Park however the location is undoubtedly perfect if your are looking for lodging, nestled in natural beauty just outside the park.

If you're traveling through this area, stopping at Pahaska Tepee is a must—not just for the food but for the overall experience. It's one of those rare finds where great service, reasonable prices, and a magical atmosphere come together perfectly.

I like staying in historic places and we needed a place close to Yellowstone, so Pahaska suited our needs. We had a duplex cabin with a king bed. It was very comfortable. My only complaint is that we could easily hear the people on the other side. Fortunately, they were quiet. I really enjoyed being near the park entrance and away from the tourist scene in Cody. The restaurant and gift shop were good, the coffee shop not so much. Guests receive a free bag of ice for each night they stay. ||Be sure to get gas in Cody. Pahaska no longer sells gas and it’s expensive in the park.

Thise place was incredible exactly what we were looking for! So peaceful, beautiful and off the grid, no TV we had our portable DVD player! Many places to walk your dog! Great staff wow! Food was amazing try the bison meatloaf so delicious 😋 if your looking for all amenities this place is not for you! If your looking for rugged comfort and peace it is for you!

This place was what I was looking for and even exceeded my expectations. Right in the heart of the mountains. Quiet place with charm cabins, nice staff and restaurant. Just 2 miles away from Yellowstone's East Entrance. This particular entrance to the park was something special and so beautiful driving next to the mountains scenery with the snowy peaks. And close to the beautiful town of Cody.

Sadly, this one great resort located right outside of the East Entrance is no longer a place to stop. I hesitate to eat here. This place is in decline, disgusting, and dirty. From the hunting lodge of Buffalo Bill, filled with great memories to the A-Frame cabins it's unkept and falling apart. ||Our A-Frame was infested with yes Infested with mice! Yikes! We had to abandon our A-Frame cabin at 11 pm the mice had taken over our room. There was no afterhours office staff. We had no one to call for help or to change rooms. We were stuck ether live in a room with mice running everywhere, sleep in our van, or drive in the dark an hour to the next town. This is not what any family with kids needs to be faced deciding. ||I do not recommend staying here. It is off the grid no cell phone, internet or TV. That wasn't so bad for my family. But being so isolated without anyone manning the office after 9:30 pm, if you have an emergency there is no one to contact. The next town is 45 minutes away. A lodge with no cell service, and no afterhours contacts. The crazy part is it has a full staff living on site. At night you see young people hanging out around the cabins. It felt more like a work camp then a family vacation.||I do feel sad for this place, the gentleman who gives you a tour of Buffalo Bill lodge is great at telling you the history of the lodge. The lodge itself is just not maintain properly it is in decay. I pray that someone invest money into this once great resort brings it back to a great place to stay.

Great location, service, & food after a long day in Yellowstone park! The atmosphere was cozy, the staff were friendly, and the food was good. I recommend the elk medallions but without the blueberries.

We were very disappointed with the restaurant: came in at 6.15pm, got food after 7 pm. I ordered Ceasar salad with salmon. Salmon was good, but it was hard to eat salad without any dressing. My husband ordered liver and onions. He said that it was the worse meal ever. Liver was as tough as an old shoe, onions were cooked to some despicable degree. Even green beans( his side dish) were almost raw. We don't recommend this restaurant.
