The room was very clean. The bathroom was very small and the tub was slippery. I almost fell twice. There was no rubber mat. There was no shampoo or lotion. There was a note to let the front desk know if any was needed, but the front desk closed at 8 before I took my shower. No one warned us the front desk closed at 8. Also, when we came back from dinner, after the front desk closed, my husband's room key didn't work. Thankfully, I had mine and we were able to get into the room. I think for the $100 we paid it was not a great value. There was no breakfast. Two plusses; the restaurant across the parking lot was excellent and we could see the setting by the river is picturesque, although we did not have a river view room

We are already planning to go next year and add a couple to the two who went this year. Room was huge and the balcony overlooking the Rock River great place for a lovely Fall afternoon. Room was extremely clean, staff was wonderful and made several good restaurant recommendations.

This is my second time staying here and it was as good as the first. They were fully booked except for the disability access room, so I had to take that. The bed it king-sized and the mattress was sort of mushy, especially on the side by the night stand. There was no bath tub, which was disappointing (they didn't tell me this). Just a shower with a low step to get in, lots of metal bars to hold on to and a shower seat. This would be good for someone who needs it. But I am not complaining as I needed this location. I stayed two nights, but could not book the 3rd night because they were sold our for a wedding. I guess this happens often, so try to book well in advance if you can. No food service in the hotel, but lots of great restaurants close by and the river is great to walk along.

The Paddle Wheel Inn is a nice, family-owned hotel with a great location/view of the river. It was clean, comfortable, quiet and the staff were very friendly. Coffee is available in the lobby. The restaurant next door has a great soup and salad bar. We would stay here again.

Everything was super easy and our room was absolutely beautiful. The location has beautiful scenery, a couple of steakhouses, and a bar and grill right next door. Our room had a huge whirlpool tub, the biggest I've ever seen in a hotel room. Many of the rooms have riverview porches, ours did and I loved it. The staff has left cute little notes around the place to let you know how to be considerate of everyone. I thought that was sweet and personal.

We had rooms booked for a trip
Saturday and Sunday night and then Thursday night later that week. Had confirmation codes for our reservation but apparently they failed to recognize that on the Thursday night booking. They booked out room out to somebody else. Called back the next day and was told manager will call us back and still haven’t heard anything not very impressed. Would recommend elsewhere

Overall the hotel itself is very nice. The view is amazing and I don’t think any season would dull the view down. Our room was very clean, comfy and cozy. The balcony had a great view of the water and trees. Of course there are always downsides though. We actually booked a smaller room and it was cancelled the day before due to credit card issues and we had to book a new room which of course was an upgrade since it was larger, we used the same card and had no issues so we felt we were a little tricked to pay the extra $100. We ended up having a leak in the ceiling in our bathroom and the next morning our toilet became clogged. There are 3 restaurants that are easily a walk away. One being right next door, 2nd a steak place an easy stroll through the parking lot and 3rd a Bar & Grill across the street. We tried the restaurant next door….I’d say try the steak place (see my review for Maxson’s) if you come in October they do hold a renaissance fair at Stronghold which in itself is beautiful and a 3 minute drive to/from Paddle Wheel. I’d honestly say we would stay again if in the area.

One of the best hotels ever! The beautifully renovated old building is situated on a wonderful river. The room I stayed in looked like it had just been redone. It had fresh carpet, cute knotty pine paneling, spotless bathroom fixtures, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. There is a deck on the river for anyone to relax and enjoy the view. Half the rooms face the river and half don't, and there is a price difference per night if you want that view. The staff was helpful. Be aware there is no food prepared in the hotel, including no breakfast served, but there are plenty of restaurants nearby.
