Checked in at 7:30pm and was given a 745pm reservation for dinner. Upon arrival we were told they were overbooked and under-staffed even though the restaurant was half empty? They were out of two entrees with a limited menu to begin with? Room was slightly better than the typical Hampton Inn and the Rec Center was just like a YMCA with nicer deck chairs. Certainly not worth the $400/night charge. Gold course was very difficult but beautiful and enjoyable.

We stayed in a studio villa. The location is amazing, and it is definitely a lovely feeling of being away but with all the comforts. Service is lovely. A great getaway!

Ellen at the front desk is great! I called in to add a gift card to someone’s room staying with them as a special gift and she called me back right away to help me! She was very sweet and quick! Thank you for your amazing service!

Golf course only. Clubhouse is a Frank Loyd Wright design and beautiful. Staff are excellent. Bartender super. The course is way too difficult to really have fun. It is penal, seemingly unfair, too precise and too hilly and I am a single digit. Lots of lost balls by the group. Our wives, who are both decent golfers, had a terrible time just negotiating the layout. Has wonderful views and was in good shape. Would not play it again.

Probably more enjoyable for golfers, people that like to be secluded, camping trip, etc. Scenery was beautiful which is the only reason its getting a 4 for location. I was in town for business and this is where we stayed. The time it takes just to get to a Target, Walmart, any chain store.. about an hour drive. So just make sure to get what you need from whatever city you fly into. The front desk staff was great and very helpful in giving restaurant recommendations. Only reason i am giving a low rating is because of my actual room
2 Queen beds golf view:
1. My bed felt like i was sleeping on a college dorm bed
2. There were ants in my room. Woke up to them in my shower or on/swimming in the toilet every day.
3. No microwave in the rooms. But they do have a "shared one in a room with ice machine that you can use"
4. I couldn't see the golf course from my patio at all

Beautiful golf course with great views. By far the hardest course I have ever played. Greens are way too difficult to be enjoyable. I don't think I will ever play this course again, it wasn't fun, period. Something needs to change at this place, spoke with a few locals and nobody likes going there because of how difficult it is.

We loved Nakoma! The area is stunning. It is Tahoe without the crowds. The hotel is not fancy but very comfortable. The rooms with terraces facing the forest / golf course are wonderful - we sat out there often, enjoying the peace and quiet and also getting to know some of our hotel neighbors (there is no privacy on the terrace but we didn't mind - it was fun to meet other guests). THE FOOD AT THE MAIN LODGE IS EXCELLENT. Super friendly staff, even if service was a bit slow. I was very impressed by the healthy, fresh food that wasn't overly salted or sugary. Lots of great choices on the menu. Clearly the chef is excellent. We had a "golf and stay" package which was very reasonably priced and the golf course is hard/hilly/tree-lined but laid back, uncrowded, and fun. Highly recommend the whole experience!

Nakoma is the hidden gem of the sierras! If you're looking for a private wedding venue that has lodging for your guests, this is my go-to option.

The intimate setting has an exclusive feel, but is anything but pretentious. I loved hanging out by the pool area surrounded by trees and friendly staff. The food is simply incredible! Imagine having a 5-star dining experience in the middle of the woods! Outdoor dinner on the lawn is a MUST and a highlight of mine, with unmatched expansive panoramic mountain views!

As photographer, the Frank Lloyd Wright inspired buildings made for such a nice backdrop. I would highly recommend having your wedding here!
