Ordered chicken rice soup and a turkey club the first time I ordered and it was delicious. The soup was creamy.

Today I had the cheesy potato soup and grilled cheese. The soup was creamy and delicious. The potatoes were in bigger chunks, but not huge. Had great flavor. The grilled cheese was toasty. Fries came with my grilled cheese, but I didn't try them.

The waitress was quick and friendly. On top of drinks. The food came out quick.

My coworkers had chicken fingers and a blt.

What a hidden gem! I love coming here anytime I visit the area. It is a local favorite. Delicious skillets, burgers, fish, etc… the broccoli and cheese soup is to do for. As well as the homemade onion rings, fries, and fried mushrooms. My personal favorite is the house skillet. The owner is a sweet, kind lady that works in the kitchen and knows all the locals. The wait staff are always fast and attentive. They also have healthy options as well. Huge portions for a really great price! Lunch is served after 11 am. Love this spot. Conveniently located downtown historic Mount Carroll.

Rita cooks every meal. She epitomizes home cooking. I truly love this place, and I truly love Rita. Her smile is as loving as the food she cooks. Wednesday Alfredo or Thursday, stir fry, yes, please. Egg Sammy on Rye, twist my arm! Her French fries and onion rings!!!
I moved to this delightful tiny town in 2017 and have enjoyed this café since.
She makes me my omelet with everything, shoves my hashbrowns on the inside for me, smothers it with sausage gravy, and with rye toast. Delicious!! And served by one of the best waitresses in the Midwest Brandy! Brandy knows her customers and she takes care of them as do all the staff there.
Clean, well lit, good coffee, consistently delicious home cooked food, and GLADLY HORRIBLE cell signal so you can actually visit with your dining partner rather than staring at your phone. Sip. Chew. Enjoy!!

Had a nice lunch. Locals eat here and staff is very friendly . Little none secret the shop next door is owned by the same owners and even though it's not open you can take the adjoining door from the restraint and shop I bought 2 swag lamps from the 60s for 20.00 [for both] total score ! The shop is filled with all Vintage items.

We needed a place to stop for breakfast while on the road. The waitress was very patient with me as I needed to take a menu out to our van. (We have a puppy and didn't want to leave her) Everything was delicious and hot. Coffee was excellent! Thank you so much!

Stopped here for breakfast while out on a two-day concert gig. Such a lovely little place with that small town vibe, I knew the food would be great! Got eggs, sausage and pancakes and it was all delicious. I'm from over 2 hours away, East, so this was such a nice little spot!

Gotta love our hometown cafe! A classic small-town eating experience in the heart of historic downtown Mount Carroll. Great food, homemade desserts and other specialties. Large "community" table Is a favorite spot for those wanting to eat and chat with friends and neighbors. Prices are appropriate, and the service is fast and friendly. Overall an excellent experience and a place you'll want to come back to over and over.
