We enjoyed the stay here, it is a quite a drive from Orange County to the Ponderosa community, the lodge is clean. the town has a snow party , it was lots of fun . The snow play is great. Our party has three people. the lodge has headroom upstairs and a single bathroom. The fireplace is old fashioned, it burns firewood!

After reading the inital reviews about this place it sounded wonderful, but a day prior i read the most recent reviews. I immediately attempted to contact the owner, Dee, and she informed me she had a heart attack and wasn't feeling well, just getting back on her feet. I asked her if I should still come, if it would be ok, she said yes and asked me how I reserved the room, which was via wix hotels and was supposed to include breakfast. Dee confirmed she could fix me something. I arrived late but Dee was nice enough to wait up for me. The room itself was nice, roomy, bed was comfortable. Dee provided wifi access code and I got online so i can download and look up maps of hiking trails. ||She provided me two very helpful maps of the area , along with some hiking and swimming places.||I did not get any cooked breakfast , but there were bananas and some doughnuts and tea/coffee. I felt bad asking her as she was sick and in pain. I even offered her help.||She did let me wash laundry and had good intentions. If she wasn't sick, I would give this place a higher rating. She did cook some dinner but did not offer me any, even though the restaurant in town closed early, so alas i had to make my ramen that brought.||Overall i love the area. Perhaps Dee can pass this wonderful place on to someone else who is healthy and has energy to manage it and provide wonderful service. Otherwise I can see how guests feel sort of uncomfortable staying here with a very ill host. Although the room is very comfortable and the shower has good hot water and pressure,The next time i will likely stay at the tavern instead.I just hope Dee feels better as she means well.

We spent 5 nights at the Mountain Top B & B, so we got to know Dee and Curtis very well. The mountains are so peaceful and Dee is so warm, kind, and gracious. Dee and her gentle dog Blue will help to welcome you as you come for your stay. Each morning we were so pleased with Dee's creations and she made sure that we were well fed. If you are at a loss of what to do, Dee will let you know where the best waterfalls are and other places to see like the Stagg Tree and Dome Rock. If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would rate them with 10 stars.

Better late than never... We stayed in this beautiful B&B end of July 2016 and it was outstanding. The hosts are so lovely that we immediately felt at home. And they provide an awesome breakfast. It was a wonderful time. ||There are tons of backcountry roads to explore and it is much quieter than the famous Yosemite Valley. ||Definitely worth a visit. Thank you so much for your hospitality.

My fiancé and I stayed here for a 4 day weekend with our family. Everything was very clean and had a numerous amount of supplies for us to use. Dee would check in on us from time to time and made sure we we’re comfortable and had everything that we needed. Bathroom is newly renovated and was very nice. The pets on their side of the property are very friendly, even with children. We will definitely be coming back for another stay and highly recommend this place.

What can I say but Superb! Staying at this place is like going and visiting family! Dee makes you feel right at home and her breakfast is nothing short of awesome!.

The accommodations are very clean and comfortable and the area is quiet and refreshing! At 7200 feet in the sequoias the scenery is beautiful and it's located close to many scenic views and hikes! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!!

It has taken me years to write this review. Mostly because I was so upset when this happened and I wanted to have a clear mind and not just rant for a paragraph. My boyfriend now husband booked this place for the weekend as a surprise for me. Little did I know he was planning on proposing to me this weekend. He planned a long romantic trip. When we arrived no one answered the door. Then we checked at one of the other local businesses. They couldn't contact them either. We did not have reception on our phones so we were just stranded. The local business offered us a place to stay for the night even though it was under construction and was not ready for guests. We stayed for the night and then they billed us for the stay even though they acted as if they were doing it out of the kindness of their own heart since we already paid a lot of funds to stay elsewhere. So suprise bill in the morning was just the icing on the cake. Despite a sleepless night and trying to find the owners of this bed and breakfast for the whole day. We still hiked to the largest tree in the area where he proposed and I said yes. Our money from the bed and breakfast was refunded eventually but we never recieved an apology from them. I will forever remember my proposal but unfortunately they will always be remembered as well. I would not recommend this place. If you do go please talk to them a lot and get everything ironed out before you do to the point of harassment so they will not forget they booked you. I'm glad I can finally write this with out hostility. To the owners you made my proposal memorable for sure.

If you are reading the great reviews for this b&b stop here. The great couple in the reviews sold up. It is now the American version of fawlty towers. We arrived as other reviews to find no one here. We drove to nearby Tavern and asked if anyone knew where they where. The lady behind the bar said she would look for them. (turns out she knows them real well). Anyway she returns to say they are just around here. We walk around to find Dee and partner/not partner and they are both really drunk. I mean really drunk. Then lots of apologising and saying they had family issues and had missed our booking. They leave about a half hour later after another round of drinks. She on foot and her partner in his truck after fumbling with keys for 20 minutes. Its literally a 1 minute walk to the b&b.||We decide to stay and have a some food and tell them we will catch up in a bit. To give them some time if this is a genuine mistake. On our return the Mountain top is in darkness and we ring the bell. Lots of dog barking cursing and arguing. We hear someone crashing through the house and the lady Dee opens the door, nose bleeding after walking into a door. Then lots more apologising, tears she ambles of to bed leaving us to it. We get up for breakfast in the morning- good breakfast. I had also pre booked evening meals. I asked what time evening meal was at and was told they no longer did them. Thankfully we had not paid for them. After breakfast my wife went onto the porch for a cigarette she finished and went inside to get ready for the day leaving her cigarettes on the table. About a half hour later she returned to find that Kurtis the so called co owner had helped himself to her cigarettes and she had about 6 missing. We were staggered at his cheek. He was a real creep and quite a nasty person. We also took all our valuables in our car as we actually thought they would be safer than left in our room. ||Now as to our room. It had a large mirrored window in it. Which was very unnerving. My wife said it gave her the creeps and refused to get changed in front of it and after meeting the new owner I could see her point. The second night was just as creepy and we again went to the local bar. On our return around ten. We went to sit on the porch. it was very dark with no light. As we went to sit down the co-owner stepped out of the shadows like he had been waiting on us and said he wanted to say goodnight- creepy. After a night of not very good sleep we left. I felt sorry for the lady Dee, she seems lovely but troubled. I hope she can get some help. This was one of the low points to our vacation. Sequoia is so beautiful. Pity this place has the potential to be the best. In the right hands. Avoid this place.
