Bad service and boring sandwiches
We came in at 3:30, figuring we could be out of their hair before they close at 4. They made sure to tell us more than once that they close at four and even said they would be mopping up while we ate (from a very fragrant mop bucket adjacent to the dining room).
I don’t know if the 3 people who came in after our group were likewise told they could stay until they closed but then had to go.
The sandwiches were small and the caprese (pictured) was utterly disappointing for a 13-14 dollar sandwich. No actual basil, and only one small slice of cheese and small bit of tomato per half of sandwich

Love midnight sun cafe! Sitting here now, enjoying a breakfast bagel sandwich after being out of state for couple years. I love that it says consistent. I used to work downtown and ordered from here pretty frequently and have missed this adorable cafe!

Ordered the midnight sun salad - Utterly disappointing. Description said it had bleu cheese, but the salad came without it. When I called the person on the phone did not seem to care and informed me they did not forget the cheese, they simply do not serve bleu cheese on anything. Said they would inform the manager to change the description...Weird, but ok. The grapes on the salad were so soft, somewhat smashed, and soggy it seemed like they had been sliced and all sitting for a long period of time - when I mentioned that he told me that next time I need to ask for them not to cut the grapes because "that's what happens when grapes get sliced".. When I asked for a refund the person on the phone scoffed a bit and said I would need to come back to the cafe to get the refund even though I paid with cashapp for an online pickup order. My partner had turkey sandwich and it was fine, the bread seemed to be the best part, but the tomato was really soggy.
Overall I'd say this place lacks in freshness, and my guess is that everything is prepped too far in advance.

Ordered ahead for pick up as I knew their service is always so slow and you never know if it will take 10 minutes or 30 minutes to get coffee and a sandwich. Received a notification that my food was ready 10 minutes before I had scheduled. When I went to pick up, I stood in line but then noticed another employee doing some cleaning right next to where my order was sitting. Politely asked if I needed to stand in line for my pick up order or if she would be able to hand it to me as its was paid for already. She cut me off, rolled her eyes, asked my name with an outlandishly dramatic tone of inconvenience and then handed me my food. Absolutely terrible service, which is why I try to avoid as much interaction with them as possible by doing a pick up order. Convenient location for me but I won't be returning, and I highly recommend you find somewhere else for coffee and/or lunch.

This place is so great!! Everything is made fresh to order. The ladies behind the counter were so welcoming and friendly. They made some amazing suggestions that we would have not typically sought out to get. When we walked in, the girl at the counter was putting fresh chocolate crunch banana muffins out. I instantly got one and it was so delicious. It had a great crunchy top with a soft, moist bottom and center. I also needed a boost of energy but wasn't up for coffee. I noticed they had a caramel apple red bull and she suggested to get the sugar free redbull so it isn't as sweet. It was amazingly delicious. My sister and I then chose some breakfast croissant sammys. They were to die for. I 100% recommend this cute little quaint place. We will be back for sure!

Thankful that we found this place downtown. Simple, little cafe with a great menu for coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and lunch. Gluten free and vegan options. Service was relatively quick, albeit not very friendly (similar to many other places we've gone to in Anchorage).
