Mater's: A Solid Slice and Great Vibes
Mater's in Fort Payne is a chill spot that hits the mark for a casual night out. While the pizza was definitely enjoyable, the real star of the show was the bar area. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, making it the perfect place to unwind with my little brother. Chatting with the friendly bartenders only added to the pleasant experience.

If you're looking for a place to grab a good pizza and enjoy some quality time with friends, Mater's is worth a visit.

Stopped at Mater’s for lunch on our way through Ft Payne. Ft Payne has several good places you can eat and Mater’s should now be added to that list…if you are making one. We both had calzones as we couldn’t decide on a pizza and they were both excellent. The service was good as in the wait staff was knowledgeable, polite and attentive, it just took a long time to get our food. So if you’re going and I recommend you do, don’t expect it to be a quick trip. The food will be excellent and worth the wait just plan on it taking longer than you expect.

The best part was the atmosphere & the beer. There was 4 tables when got there & it took almost a hour for our food. We had 2 large pepperoni a pepperoni calzone & a 8 in pizza. The waitress didn’t check on us after she brought the food.

Great lunch here today as I was on business making some sales calls.

Unbelievable steak sandwich and the fries were great also. My server, Erica was a fantastic waitress. I definitely recommend this place for anyone.

The hostess is going to cost this place a lot of business. Love the food and have had great experiences at the other locations. Came in with wife and son and was told it would be 15 minutes before we could be seated. Empty table everywhere. We said ok and then she asked if we wanted outside or inside. She said it was 15 minute wait either way. She said the “kitchen was backed up.” Another couple came in 5 minutes later and grabbed a table and ordered drinks. We went back up to the server and said we would like a table and order drinks. She repeated it was a 15 minute wait. We told her we wanted to sit down and wait and have drinks while we waited. She said no tables were available…still. Long story short, it was the first bad experience I’ve had at a Maters.

Don’t listen to the review saying pizza was OK, it was great! Definitely must stop if you’re passing through after a visit to the Canyon. Service was a little slow, to be fair there was a car show happening that night as well. Dog friendly on the patio unlike Lizard wall, which was not dog friendly, unless you have a pulley system. If you do go there get on rotten piller, it has a much flower start than Lemonade. In short pizza was good.

I read some reviews on the service being slow. I did not experience this at all. We are moving from Dallas to Fort Payne. One of my biggest adjustments is the speed in which things get done. I'm slowly adapting to the slower pace of life but this was the fastest service I have had in Fort Payne. Seated immediately, drink order taken within seconds, starter order taken as soon as the waitress returned with the drinks. She let us get started on our appetizers then took our order. We ordered 2 pizzas and watched the cars coming through Main Street. The appetizer was 'ok'. It actually had me fearing the pizza since my wife ordered some cranberry covered pizza and another without meat. My fears were wasted. The pizzas were amazing. I don't remember the names...sorry. once we were done, our waitress was there with a box and the check. She never allowed our drinks to reach half way. Loved the service and pizza. I'll be back.

My family and I stopped in this morning during Boom Days in Fort Payne.

Miss Erica was so sweet and attentive. Definitely an A+++ server to have and I recommend you ask for her!

My children (7&4) said this was the best pizza they ever had. We tried the Roma pizza, and I gotta say my kids are on their way to being good food critics.

Pizza was definitely better than any other pizza you’re going to find in Fort Payne. Puts Pizza Hut, Papa John’s, Little Caesers, and Dominos to shame any day.

The whole vibe and personality of Mater’s is great. The music is some of the best I’ve heard play in a restaurant. Blues, jazz, and good oldies.
