Love this park, feels safe with other people who also walk or run in the park. I see the same people each day! By the way, a walk around the park is about one mile.

Besides walking or running, there are plenty of other things to do. For example, the Nelson Center is a good place for swimming and ice skating. There are frisbee golf players from time to time. And a couple of nice playgrounds for the kids.

All in all, a great place to enjoy a quiet morning or a fun activity.

Good place to visit for anyone who is interested in history. There was a very knowledgeable guide inside the Lincoln Memorial. Clean restrooms are on the left side of the parking by the Memorial. The whole cemetery seems to be old and worth walk around; lots of old grave markers. Some of them are so beautiful like the museum quality art and seem out of place, like those few ancient Greece style columns on the other side of the drive leading to the parking lot. The cemetery is, in my opinion, well kept.

Lincoln Park is a good place on the North end for a lunch walk, dog walk, run, picnic, playdate, ball game, etc. You get the idea. There's also the pool and ice rink, which are very fun. Check the schedules for both, especially to catch a hockey game. (useless historical points) They used to have a three level diving platform until the entire pool was lifted up in one piece into the air by groundwater. Horrible damage but nature is so bad ass! Oh yeah, my brother was the first person to dive from the top platform when it was built. (I warned you it was useless) I wish there better public restrooms available in the park throughout the year.

RUNNERS, WALKERS, CYCLISTS: It appears small but the figure 8 shape of the well-maintained road makes it a good training route for running, walking, and biking. It has two gradual hills that you'll begin to feel on your 2nd time around. Then 3rd, 4th, and so on you'll respect those "little" hills! LOL. You can add the IL State Fairgrounds to up your game. It's generally open all throughout the year. There's also a larger longer hill (which is such an understatement when you see it!) technically outside of the park to the West when you're ready. There's one logistical reminder if you want to include Oak Ridge Cemetery. Just ask a Spfld Road Runner 😉. It is NOT connected to the park thru Calvary Cemetary. You'll need to go South on 1st, which is that large hill to the West, and go through the neighborhood on the south side of the park. Map it and you'll see what I mean. When you need some variety, it's a great addition. Don't add it if you're not ready to have a long walk back to the car. LOL. Good luck and for all that is holy... HYDRATE!

I'm kinda into history and lincoln is my favorite president so I might have a skewed opinion but I loved visiting Lincolns tomb it was a very moving experience and I intend on going again in the future. The war memorials are very impressive and moving as well. The grounds are beautiful and well manicured. Their was a comfort station near Lincolns tomb and I was totally shocked at how clean it was but the water was lukewarm at best so bring hands sanitizer.

I hadn't been there for awhile. I had my grandkids for a bit so took them there. Enjoyed watching them as they played on the playground. Never saw the double swing before. It's a cool idea to be able to swing with small children. Adults are able to use it too!!!
