The cafe has a pleasant ambience and delicious meals. A wonderful way to end a day of exploring the Legion of Honor exhibits.

Had a pleasant meal at the Legion of Honor Cafe.
Cafeteria style service, you order and pay, they give you a number and bring your food when it's ready.

Regretfully lentil soup was advertised on their sign-board, but the only soup the kitchen made was minestrone. Soup came with crackers, and was basically commercially made heat and serve soup.

Mocha latte was made fresh, and was decent for a cafe.

The desserts were typical commercially made frozen/thaw/serve desserts, but they taste good.

Very pleasant place to sit and enjoy a latte midway through exploring the museum. I was grateful that they had a vegan soup that was also gluten free! Perfect on a cold and rainy day.

We had coffee and pastries, vegetarian burger for breakfast, before seeing the Museum. Japanese prints was on display today. The burger was very good, also the Cole slaw that came with it.

Very over priced. No one expects museum cafe/restos to be chealpbut $25 for the following. Forget it. I was shocked when I received my half a toasted cheese sandwich and soup. Soup was excellent, but sandwich on white bread that resembled supermarket white sliced (they said it was a bespoke bakery but boring nonetheless) was unimaginative (this is SF !!!) just slapped on a white plate with small bowl of soup and no garnish, This is 7/11 or freeway food at best. For $25 an interesting plate visually (it's museum/gallery) a whole sandwich on artisan bread. If you want quality go to the Getty Center in LA. Very disappointed for such a wonderful place and beautiful resto space.

OVERALL: 3/5
Food: 3/5 - Mediocre AND expensive food. The chicken salad was over dressed, wilted and too vinegary. The Burrata Sandwich was watery.
Service: 5/5 - Self Service. Order at the counter. Take a number and the food is delivered to the table. The staff was quick and very helpful.
Ambiance: 5/5 - We sat outside. Their patio is beautiful.

The outside terrace of this cafe instantly transports you to Europe. On a sunny day, the shade from the trees and the statues gives you a relaxing and sophisticated feeling unlike anywhere else in the city. Also, it is very spacious and often not crowded. We got a cappuccino and an apple tarte. Both were delicious! Tip: The first weekend of every month is free for Bank of America card holders.

It's expensive, but always good. The specials are often really tasty -- I've had some excellent sandwiches there. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, with some interesting sculptures on the patio outside. Service is always friendly. All of this makes it worth the extra cost.
