Nice old auditorium that definitely takes you back in time while still having some modern comfort. The seats are comfortable but a little narrow since it's an older building. The rows are also a little close together. If a taller person I would recommend trying to move toward an isle seat so you have more room. They have plenty of ADA seating that is easily accessible. There is one men's bathroom on the first floor with woman's restrooms being on the first and second floor, however there is NO elevator. Like I said an older style building, so if you have a hard time with stairs keep that in mind that there is no elevator.

This is a warm and lovely place for events, with comfortable seating. The theater has a somewhat different design being wider than deep. The benefit of this design is to bring the stage closer to more of the audience. Watching and listening to Shawn Colvin and K T Tunstall this past Monday was a wonderful performance of the talent, individually and together, as well as the acoustics of the auditorium. On this last point, it was disappointing. The sound was muddy, bass-heavy, lacking clarity and the presence of the largely acoustic guitars they played. Having seen Colvin five times prior to this at wide-ranging theaters very much like the Laxson, I'm aware that, like most accomplished performers, they take great care to have their sound the best possible. Unfortunately, this isn't easy in the Laxson.

I always have a great time going to Laxson. I've gone on countless field trips to see different performances here. The staff is always very nice. Inside and outside of the building is well kept. Bathrooms are clean.

I really adore this auditorium and love taking in shows here.
Please note: It is located on the Chico State University campus which means they must follow the state protocols for covid. To enter you must show proof of vaccination or negative test. However, you are still required to wear a mask. At the concessions stand you have to purchase a sippy cup for beverages if you want to take them in the auditorium.
I took the family to see Post Modern Jukebox Nov. 13th. Great show! We sat in row H of the orchestra seating. The volunteers are wonderful and helpful.

We used to love shows at Laxson. I have recommended the place many times. The last two shows were terrible. At “Take me to the river” in March and yesterday for “Manhattan Transfer” we sat in the first row of the balcony. The sound was too loud and distorted. We had to leave. Everybody around us thought it was bad. We tried downstairs and it was slightly better but it was still bad. You could not hear the individual voices. What has happened? We saw Tommy Emanuel last December and it was great.
