If you are looking to learn the history of Susanville, this is a great place to start. It is filled with lots of original artifacts; things belonging to the native American tribes, the founders of the town and some of the earlier settlers. There was a handsome gent who guided my friend and I through. He grew up in the town and gave us lots of interesting facts. There are also books and things about the towns history that you can purchase as you leave. It is for sure a must visit if you come to Susanville.

Nice little museum located next to Roop's Fort in Susanville. If you happen across a relic out yonder, the people here will help you learn the history of it, with eager enthusiasm! Always friendly, always helpful- Thank you for your knowledge and time friendly Historians!

Great little space with lots of information. Outside on their right is the rebuilt fort and inside a lot of great stuff from the past and modern times. A really nice display of Native crafts and tools, some of it old and much of it is new and made by local crafters who are keeping their traditions alive. It's nice to see more about the places I know by name but not much else.

There needs to be more information (historical info) posted outside at site. Little story boards near each area or building would be nice. Also there should be WAY more signage or at least better signage leading to Roop's Fort/Lassen Historical Museum.

This cozy museum had a fire burning the stove and Zellamae Miles herself was sitting in a rocking chair telling stories to our students. They have an interesting collection of artifacts of different types as well as maintained outbuildings to bring the past to life. Our experience here was personal, welcoming and educational.

Make sure to check when they are open. Only 5 days a week for only 2-4 hours. It's small but it looked like it was interesting. We missed the open hours
