The staff goes above and beyond to ensure a peaceful and enjoyable stay - some of the nicest people I’ve ever encountered. Meticulous interior details and landscaping, extremely well maintained classic architecture, beautiful pool, very quiet and relaxing. Not a single detail has been missed. Had a great time on the beach cruisers with my partner riding up and down Lakeshore after enjoying some donuts and fresh Michigan cherries in the clubhouse. Idyllic.

For this price point, I expected much more. The rooms left much to be desired. It kind of felt like a cheap motel trying to be an upscale resort. There were stains on the bedding, as well as towels. The water literally smelled like rotten eggs. And there were 20+ smashed mosquitoes in the window shade.

The vibe of the resort was also super weird. It felt like if you weren't a repeat customer, you were an outcast. Very few guests or resort workers were friendly when you said hi as you walked by. And God forbid if you spoke a word while by the pool. You got the glare of death from everyone.

The views were spectacular, I will give it that. And breakfast was decent. But we will not be back. I can find much nicer places in this price range.

The Lake Shore Resort is a special little gem of a place that is definitely not your typical off-the-rack experience. Everything here seems to have been thoughtfully curated by someone who knows how to bring the concept of casual elegance to life. The amenities (beachfront deck, kayaks, bikes, pool, trails) are very nice; the breakfasts are wonderful; and the overall ambience of the property is calm, relaxing and restorative. A bit pricey? Yes. Totally worth it? Also yes.

We are just simply so grateful to have discovered this lovely resort many years ago. It is a lovely and quiet oasis away ... and Douglas and Saugatuck are minutes away when and if you choose to leave the peace and quiet and serenity this place provides.

The best place to stay on Lake MI! My husband and I went on a kids free trip to celebrate our 10th anniversary. We loved the peace and quiet. Felt like we were on Hwy 1 in Big Sur California. Close enough to Saugatuck/Douglas for meals and drinks.

Beautifully and tastefully renovated, this resort was once a roadside motel. The updates, spotlessly clean rooms, fresh decor, setting, amenities, and immaculate grounds made it the perfect place for my lifelong friend and I to relax and rejuvenate. |The breakfast is included, yet in no way resembles complimentary breakfasts at typical chain hotels. The menu is creative, and the made-to-order dishes are delicious. The coffee is wonderful, and the view of Lake Michigan is spectacular!|We fully enjoyed the beach, the pool, and the nature trails, as well as the proximity to shops and restaurants in Saugatuck. |Don't miss the fire pits or the sunsets! |

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights for his bday. It was a surprise trip from me. The location was good. Its right by the beach but be warned, its not for elderly or people who are not fit to get up and down the stairs. Its a very very pricey lodge compare to the trip we had in upper peninsula, the Scott's Superior Inn and Cabin. That was very nice and the owners were very nice. This lakeshore resort however, the complimentary breakfast is not that good, I have had better breakfast from a Hilton or a Hampton Inn. They missed serving my husband his breakfast, so he had to wait longer, they missed the orange juice we asked for, the utensils were dirty, had to ask them to replace them. I mean for a pricey lodge, I would expect more. We also had an incident in the room we were in (#20). It rained hard in the morning of our check out date. On the way to the washroom, my husband slipped and fell on a puddle of water. We didn't see that water on the floor. We called the front desk right away after it happened. It seemed like the water came from outside, it seeped in from the floor board or it came from the little window above the AC unit. The fridge was working and no water came from the washroom. We had to changed our plans because of the unfortunate incident, had my husband get checked out in the urgent care which is about 30 mins away. He could not even drive, so I had to. Thank God, there was no fracture but he could not put his weight on his knee. I hope this place would fix whatever it needs to be fixed and don't let anyone rent the room if it's not ready, so rain water does not seep in and someone could get hurt again, you also need a first aid kit and a procedure in place when a guest got hurt. The ice pack we were handed for my husband had a little blood or something on it, wrapped in a towel, it's just so unsanitary, especially my husband had a little abrasion on his knee after he fell. Otherwise, Ms. Jennifer and Andrew came to check my husband right away. Thank you for that, we appreciate that. Then I ran into a lady named Donna, she was a little rude when I was about to tell her what had happened. She told me that I don't need to tell her again. She did not even apologized or even empathized for my husband who got hurt on their facility. The location was very nice. But its over rated.
