I recently went to this restaurant, and from the moment you arrive, they greet you with a warm welcome. They have enough tables to serve a large number of people. One thing I didn't like was the coded menu, which you can only see on your phone. I think it was because Covid is over, and they should bring back the menu to give it to customers. The coffee with milk was excellent and enormous. The chilaquiles tasted great. I hope to return soon. Thank you. The waiters were very attentive and friendly.

We went for breakfast, and it was okay, the most popular dishes are the chilaquiles and the cafe de la olla. The only dish we did not like at all was the mango chicken plate.
I’d recommend it if you are in the area.

This was my first time here. I found it to be so delightful and interesting. The food was excellent. The generous portions kept us from walking away hungry. The Cafe de Olla was served in an enormous coffee cup.

This restaurant is located in the Little Village area of Chicago. Free off-street parking is available.

I went for lunch with my mom & my son. “La Cátedra” the decoration lines up with its name. The paintings are colorful & vivid. I specially like the Michael Angelo, on the first floor ceiling it’s beautiful. And the many religious statues and paintings makes you feel you are stepping into la catedral of Mexico City. I must say, I was a bit disappointed with their food. I ordered chicken red sauce enchiladas. But the enchiladas were saggy and tasted more like chilaquiles. I would of like them crispy. My son ordered the turkey club, the sandwich was ok, but the pickle was very sad and out of date. My mother ordered the chicken fajitas, it was a generous portion. And she said, it had a good tasted. The horchata was very good. The agua de agua de jamaica, was also good. The cafe de la olla didn’t disappointed me. I must say, I never seen a menu that didn’t listed the prices of the items in the menu. The place is big 2 floors, it’s always busy. Parking, well it’s complicated, the near by streets are residential and I was told that I can park by 26th street. Which is about a block away. In front of the restaurant, on the entire block its no parking due to “loading zone” in my opinion it needs to be reserved for handicap parking. I have a handicap post, but no where to accommodate me.

The bathrooms, one for men & one for women. I was waiting to used the woman’s bathroom, when one of the employees told a man to go into the woman’s bathroom. When he come out the whole toilet was cover with pee. I was disgusting. And went to the cashier & told her. The bathrooms must always be clean. And I do mind if it says it’s a woman’s bathroom, I don’t want to used it, if a man goes there and pees all over. I hope the restaurant owners do something about the proving handicap parking and keeping the bathrooms for just the appropriate sex & clean. I will give it another try.

The line here is worth the wait! First of all, traditional decoration all over the place, but not like some fake places, but true Mexican. The place is packed in breakfast/brunch time, so either book in advance or be ready to wait 10-20minutes. Service is great and helpful, but if you speak Spanish they will go above and beyond, so you can try practicing if you know even a little bit! Portions are very big, and everything was great. Cafe de olla was good (and massive), the strawberry licuado was also very good, as well as the cajeta latte. They have plenty chilaquiles options, the mole ones were good but the divorciados (red and green) were very tasty and the sauces were on point. On the sweet side, the crepes with banana and Nutella are also a must! We will be back for sure!

Their food was really good. We went with a party of 20 people on 10/13 and they did an outstanding job of taking care of us. Their large Cafe de Hoya is huge and delicious. I would warn you that the wait time is long. Would highly recommend.
