We stayed two nights with Mary and Dan on our July visit to Alaska, and found them very warm, welcoming and accommodating! We enjoyed pleasant conversation, and canine co-host, Pepper, is a furry bundle of joy! Mary and Dan have a lovely home and extend unparalleled hospitality. Their breakfasts are tailored to their guests’ specific schedules and food requirements. Their culinary skill was amazing. A comfy bed, a clean and welcoming space and many thoughtful touches made our stay just delightful.

Comfortable living area in the walk-out basement for B&B guests, separate from family living quarters. Delicious breakfasts including home-made muffins to fuel your day. Absolutely the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in!! ||Gracious, welcoming hosts with tips for where to go and what to do in Anchorage and surrounding communities. So interesting to talk with both Mary and Dan!!||Kathy & Dan|Dallas-Fort Worth

Mary and Dan were the perfect hosts. Each day a new and exciting extravagant breakfast and sharing stories of adventure.
Their local knowledge and contacts made our vacation so much better and we explored like a local. Hiking, river rafting, glacier cruises, ATV adventures all within striking distance from this home away from home overlooking the famous turnagain arm.
Two great bedrooms, a private den and living area, private bathroom with shower and washer/drier set up.
Why would you ever stay in a hotel like a tourist when you can meet these great hosts and make a new friend.
Alaska is unique in outdoor exploration and adventure. Enjoy it like a local!

PS we took our 17 year old grandson with us on this trip and he said it was the best ever!

I can attest to ten delightful trips to Anchorage. Jarvi Homestay hosts provide a warm and cozy base camp for visitors! Accommodations are clean and comfortable. Jarvi Homestay is strategically located for easy trips north, south, east and west. Longtime residents, Dan and Mary enjoy welcoming new people to Alaska and making resources available to enhance your trip.

The friendly greeting from Mary and Dan when we arrived set the tone for our 3 day visit. Our room was clean, neat, and cozy and we enjoyed the chocolate covered bedside treats. Mornings began with a friendly hello and delicious Espresso and Americano coffee and custom juices, continuing with a leisurely, satisfying breakfast (fresh fruits, yogurt, danishes, scrambles, hashbrowns, bacon) and wonderful conversation. We relaxed in the evenings with a dip in the hot tub and several sessions in the massage chair. Mary and Dan are a wealth of information when it comes to places to eat and sites to see. Put down your Google map and TripAdvisor, they will fill you in on the best places to go. When we come back to Anchorage for our next visit, we will definitely look up Jarvi Homestay.

Fantastic place to stay in a beautiful place. Short drive to airport, downtown, mall, and Judy's Cafe. Art museum, Whittier, Flattop Overlook Trail, Portage Glacier, Wildlife conservation, and great breweries ... not far away!
The downstairs rooms provide much privacy with the bathroom a few steps away..the bathroom with heated floors, that is! Washer/dryer/mini fridge/coffee machine/TV all available!
Mary and Dan were more than accommodating and Lucas (the house pup) made the experience that much better. Great hosts with a wealth of advice about the town and local attractions.

We truly felt at home while here, playing with Lucas helped us with being away from our own dog. Dan and Mary were more than accommodating, plenty of travel tips, excellent food, and an altogether cozy and laid-back atmosphere made Jarvi a place of rest and relaxation the whole time we were there. The proximity of JHS to downtown anchorage and the Chugach makes for an easy time being a tourist. Downtown Anchorage, Whittier, Alyeska, and a walk across a frozen lake to Portage Glacier were all an easy drive away.

Dan and Mary open their home so you become part of the family! Super nice people who make your stay feel like home. Together they make a great breakfast to get you going and local knowledge of sights to see with many local contacts to give you a personal touch as well. ||||We took our grandson to Alaska for his senior trip and had a blast on ATV’s, river rafting, glacier explorations and much more||||Highly recommend and hope to come back soon.
