The staff was very polite and helpful. It was a busy weekend but they handle everything amazingly. Hotel room was clean and comfortable. The food at Merks was super delicious, one of the best club sandwiches. Being connected to the mall, made it very convenient to kill time. All in all a good visit.

Review from a stay a couple months ago.

Overall, tremendous experience. Very nice and enjoyable room. Took a long time, very long time, to get checked in, but once checked in, enjoyed a great time at this hotel. In their defense, there was a large event the weekend I checked in.

Bed was comfortable, bathroom was great. I found the location to be very ideal. Connected to the mall but also walking distance to numerous other locations.

Hope I get a chance to stay here again sometime.

Front desk people are rude and unaccommodating. We (3 rooms) tried to check in at 5pm and were told rooms weren't ready. Apparently they had an issue with washing the linens. We were understanding, gave our phone numbers and waited for a call. At 7:30pm we had not gotten a call so we went to the front desk. Guess what, 2 rooms were ready (why no call) Those 2 people checked in. Soon after my room was ready. So now it's 7:40pm, the first thing the front desk lady says is checkout is 11am. I said are you serious, that's BS, we just got checked in. She said, checkout is 11am. That is ludicrous! No, I'm sorry for the inconvenience. We're going to take money off bill or let you stay late. Really bad customer service. Both ladies were short with us. They need to be retrained. Would not recommend. Too pricey for that kind of service and such a short stay.

Valet service was excellent—very respectful and helpful. However, customer service inside was unacceptable. One woman was unnecessarily rude and spoke to me in a disrespectful tone multiple times while I was simply trying to drop off a delivery. It’s disappointing to experience that kind of treatment while trying to do my job professionally. I hope management addresses this issue and reinforces basic courtesy and professionalism for all staff.

Everything went wrong which is an indication of poor quality to me. Arrived at 5 and our room was not ready. Reason was so many people recently checked out. Yet people on both sides of me checked in no problem. Were told we could take a shuttle to dinner. Went and told them we’d be coming after checking our bags. Told no problem. Came back and waited for 10 minutes then went to ask the same person and he told us the shuttle went to the airport and wouldn’t be back for 90 mins. (Do you not see us standing here? Maybe tell us?) Room - sink drain is locked shut so the water wouldn’t drain. Called someone to come help ( had to wait 10 mins to use the phone.bc it wasn’t charged. took about 30 mins) and were told it was broken. Alarm went off at 6ish am. We didn’t set it. Liquid soap dispenser in the shower is empty. Which I found out while taking a shower. Both clocks are wrong and neither match. Overall poor care and attention. Pick somewhere else to stay.

Great location! The staff was pleasant, helpful, and extremely courteous. They went out of their way to make our stay memorable. We visit Birmingham for work annually, and I believe we've found the hotel we'll be using going forward. There wer so many activities that were close by, especially being connected to the mall. The hotel restaurant had fabulous food options and at a reasonable price. Definitely not our last stay at this hotel!

I was in town for a AAU tournament, had a great time. The valet team was absolutely amazing. They helped with my luggage, opened the doors, and were extremely friendly. I met the Guest Services Manager, Timothy. He made sure my vehicle was taken care of and that my luggage made it to my room. They get 5 stars from me.

I’m a corporate flight attendant and I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels over the past 27 years of my career. Our accommodations are usually set up with Marriott or Hilton. If this last experience with Hyatt in Birmingham is like ALL Hyatt Hotels, I won’t waste my time booking there again. We arrived at the hotel after 5:30pm ready to check in. The front desk informed us our rooms weren’t ready. They took our info and said they would call us to let us know when they would be ready…so we left and had dinner. By 7:30pm, we were finished with dinner but no call yet! So we headed back to the hotel to check the status. They told us 2 rooms were ready but the 3rd room was not. While checking 2 of us in, the 3rd room was finally ready. We, then, asked if we could have a late checkout since we were getting our rooms late. She said “no”. I asked why bc when checking us in earlier, I heard a few ppl asking for a 5:00pm late checkout but they would need to charge an additional $50..we were good with that! She still said no & then got an attitude. Not sure why they got a late checkout and we couldn’t..plus we were inconvenienced with a late check in. I will say, the bell-man and valet car personal were very nice. I think the front desk staff could learn something about customer service from these 2 staff members. The rooms were nice but the shower was substandard…didn’t seem clean. Thank goodness I bring my own cleaning gear for times like this. I was very disappointed…my review for this hotel, gets an “F” minus.
