5 Stars – Huggin’ Molly’s: Exactly What We Needed

Have you ever left a restaurant thinking, “Why can’t more places get it right like this?” That was exactly our reaction after visiting Huggin’ Molly’s.

From the moment we sat down, it felt like we were in for something better—and they delivered. The service was prompt, the food came out surprisingly fast, and everything was fresh, hot, and made with care. How often do you find a place where the food arrives quickly and still exceeds expectations?

We tried several things, and not one item missed the mark. The hamburgers were juicy, perfectly cooked, and loaded with fresh toppings—no skimping here. The fish was excellent, flaky and seasoned just right. The homemade chips? Crisp, flavorful, and clearly made in-house. Even the side veggies were cooked just enough to still keep their texture, which is a rare thing.

And then there’s the mint chocolate chip malt. Rich, creamy, and blended just right—it was enough to share between three people and still feel like we each got our fill. It wasn’t just dessert; it was the kind of ending that makes a great meal unforgettable.

Compared to the last place I reviewed, this wasn’t just a step up—it was a completely different league. It makes you wonder: Why doesn’t everyone operate like this? Why don’t more places take the time to make every detail matter?

I mistakenly found a gem I didn’t know existed. I put a bbq place in my gps and got lost. Because of the miscalculation of the gps, I drove into a moment back in time in downtown Abbeville. I was so delighted to find this vintage jewel and Huggin Molly’s on my unexpected journey. There were not many shops, but that didn’t take away from the experience and the fact that it was hard for me to leave. I spent most of the afternoon listening to the songs that filled the streets and tried to remember the books and movies that displayed this era, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful and classy eras. Most definitely, there were many issues during that time period, but to find the beauty from it can be found here, in this step back in the past. I hope one day I’ll hear of a vintage car show or a sock hop there. It’ll be the perfect backdrop for it.

An amazing choice for a Valentine's day dinner. The town at night is so peaceful and lit up like a quaint 50s -60 era town. We have been want to try Huggin Molly's for quite some time and boy are we glad we did. The steaks were perfectly prepared and very flavorful. The veggies were also delightfully tender and not overly seasoned. And then there was desert which was also exceptionally delicious. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu. Highly recommend Huggin Molly's for an unforgettable experience.

We were in Abbeville to catch up with some relatives and were treated to Huggin Mollys. Good food, good service with an Amazing atmosphere. Very cool to have a meal with friends and family at a place where time stands still.

Huggin Molly's has the potential to be so much more than it is. I was hoping for more of a milkshake/float selection with the cool retro milkshake bar and was let down by the limited offerings. We went on a Saturday and while the staff was attentive and the overall ambiance inside the restaurant was very nostalgic, the food prices were high for what they were, my order ended up coming out wrong, and I left this place feeling as if it could be so much more than it currently is. Still worth a visit if you happen to be passing through. We drove from Fort Rucker to eat here on a Saturday after reading an article about it on a travel page, and unfortunately for me, it could use some improvements.

Stepping back in time. Cool place, great staff. Burgers are great. Didn't get to enjoy the ice cream and soda fountain. That will be for another trip. We visited on a Saturday. Town wasn't busy.
