HCR isn't for everyone, but for those that love rustic, technology-free getaways, HCR is a magical place. The only reason I am giving a low service rating is the "breakfasts". They used to have a lovely family style breakfast in the farmhouse, but since COVID they have switched to some basic food served in an outdoor balcony area, which is cold and uninviting. I wish they would go back to doing breakfast in the farmhouse. It was a fun way to get to know the other guests and prepare for the day ahead. We used to be very frequent visitors of HCR but have scaled back in the past couple of years, mainly because of what is now done for breakfast. Please bring back breakfast in the farmhouse.

We were told about Howard Creek 12 years ago 2012. We came for our honeymoon, planning on only staying 1 night and moving on. We stayed 4 nights and absolutely fell in love. We continued to come back for anniversarys for several more years. Howard creek is magic and unique in a way that if you "get it,you will love it". It's quirky, and Sally and Sonny are absolutely adorable. I love the story's Sonny tells and thd kindness and love they both have for the Howard Creek family. The small maintenance issues( ie wrench for shower faucet ,sink spray,jiggling toliet handle to flush) . Theses are what makes it quirky and special. Please don't change a thing. ❤️

One of my favorite stays maybe ever. I’m already planning my next trip back in my mind. The hosts are really friendly and go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. Breakfast is included in the mornings (made by Sonny). The views are unparalleled and the beach access… my my!

This is a one of a kind experience but don't come here expecting a 5 star resort. It's dusty and old and quaint....think of it as camping. No 2 rooms or cabins are the same. Everything worked as it should and the Internet worked great which is good because zero cell service. The beach is walking distance close but 2 large campgrounds feed it so prepare for people. Also, don't be an idiot, there are bears and raccoons that will ravage your food if you leave it out. Oh, plenty of BBQs so bring some charcoal and all your own food if you want. Like camping

We are no fans of boring hotel rooms and this place is anything but that, however, the lack of cleanliness and attention to detail caused us to be disappointed in our stay, especially as it was not inexpensive. We met a couple at breakfast who raved about the place, so clearly it's an individual thing. Cleanliness is a big deal for us . We stayed in the Sun room which is in a very old building with lots of old furniture and other old things everywhere. The building is in remarkable shape, but there was a strong musty smell throughout. I took a shower and noticed the water was not draining. There was a rubber bathtub mat on the floor and I though it might be the cause so I lifted it up to reveal that the drain plate was held in place with duct tape and the bottom of the rubber mat had mold on it. Our mattress was wrapped in some sort of plastic that made noise when there was movement. None of these or other similar issues are show-stoppers, but together they contributed to a major "ick-factor" for us. There was a laminated card in the room with general info that said breakfast was canceled. I had to call to get the wifi password (as it was not provided) and confirmed about breakfast which I was told would indeed take place and was given the hours and location. If I had not had to call for the wifi password, we would have missed breakfast as it took place in another building. This is clearly a very unique property in a great setting. There are many common areas and I have no doubt it was awesome in its heyday (maybe still) but as far as the basics go, it leaves much to be desired.

Our stay was magic. When searching for a place to stay we wanted it to be dog friendly, close to the beach, private, affordable/ obtainable, and the Howard Creek Ranch provided all! We stayed at the Sea View Cabin for a long weekend. The hosts Sunny and Sally were more than accommodating and very fun to have an excellent breakfast with every morning. The hot tub was where we spent most of our time, overlooking the ocean, watching humming birds come and go, and the stars at night. The outdoor kitchen was a great space for making meals. Fast WiFi to check weather. The big deck was great for lounging. The cabin has a nice grassy area and lots of room for our puppo to run around. We will definitely be returning and have already recommended this place to our friends. The dog friendly beach is walkable and fairly secluded, we were the only ones when we went. Westport has an excellent restaurant for dinner and drinks and a convenient store where we got charcoal, smoked salmon, ice and sausages. Veggies from nye ranch and you have a meal. Can’t wait to hang with sunny and Sally again and create more memories.

A few things you may want to know no TVs no Wi-Fi the toilet in our room did not flush the beds were still covered in dog hair from the previous guest oh and don't let me forget the brown recluse spider that crawled out of my pillow case that was bigger than a half dollar coin they do not do refunds as soon as they charge your card they consider it a done deal and do not have consideration we checked in at 2 am and left within the hour to a motel 6 not a very good clean up crew here blankets obviously don't get washed after guests or at thet room hardly gets cleaned I had high hopes for this place unfortunately not

This place is amazing!!! I will definitely be coming back!! The price is absolutely amazing, so cheap and yet you get so much foe it! There's a fun swinging bridge, you can walk to the beach and watch the sunset, there's cats and a dog and chickens! And, my favorite part, it gets so dark you can actually see the milky way! Breakfast was delicious! The bed was so comfortable. I'm 100% coming back and bringing my husband with me!
